A little reminder for those who voted for Miss Joanne that we had the Superbowl HT Show, Coachella, the iconic Victoria's Secret Fashion Show performance and several interviews, performances and cute promo during this era, Chromatica wishes :partysick:

This is about the album not the era though

Can we just all remind ourselves that the year Chromatica was released, so much crazy stuff happened in the world. We had a global pandemic, lockdowns, social distancing, George Floyd protests for BLM, the economy went to sh*t worldwide because of fuel, Australian bushfires.

I’ll never forget waking up in Lockdown on a unusual hot day which was the day when Chromatica was released and I couldn’t enjoy it because I woke up to all the symptoms of Covid :franminervini:

The Joanne era would of never survived it :franminervini:

Voted for that and I can’t at people voting Chromatica :saladga:

But TF is pretty forgettable besides the singles and like maybe 2 fan faves

Love The Fame for what it was, but I truly barely listen to it anymore.

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

me when I lie :ororomunroe:

I like Joanne tbh. It stands out in her discography, both as an album and an era.

The Fame was her debut, The Fame Monster was a continuation of that, Born This Way felt like the closing of that trilogy before ARTPOP brightened things up. Chromatica tried to recapture the magic of those first four albums but delivered her most basic lyrics and flat delivery over generic club beats. Still bops! Still a great album! But easily her worst album, quality wise.

But then there's Joanne. This pink hatted normal girl among the weirdo albums (term of endearment). There's just something about the project that makes me love it more than anything she's done

The analog production feels so personal and authentic. While I've got nothing against computer generated music, there's a charm in the fact that every guitar was an actual guitar, every drum was an actual drum, etc etc.

And I find the journey the album takes you on to be more enjoyable than the others. Like most of her work, Joanne is about pain and reflection. But unlike ARTPOP (heavy metaphors and loud electronic music) or Chromatica (with flatly stated lyrics laid on top of Bloodpop's samples) it's a personal journey about herself.

When I saw her at the JWT, when she performed Joanne, she talked about her dad and how she felt she never met her true dad because the pain of losing Joanne changed him so much that he became a different person.

Pain changes who you are.

And that's what the album is about. Gaga reflecting on her experience with pain and who she is as a person. People forget that Joanne is her name too and while the album is inspired by her aunt, it's about Gaga.

Her heartbreak (Diamond Heart, Perfect Illusion, Million Reasons), her loneliness (Dancin' in Circles), her confidence (A-Yo, Sinner's Prayer), her longing (John Wayne), her desire to be a force for good (Come to Mama, Hey Girl), the pain of loss and grief (Joanne, Angel Down), the power of love (Grigio Girls), and her melancholy joy (Just Another Day).

None of the other albums take you on a journey like that. Nothing Gaga's done has been so tender and personal imo.

I really wish the stans would appreciate it more 'cause it deserves it. I won't apologize for my Joanne love

And the album hits especially hard after I lost my grandpa, my father figure, in 2021. Sinner's Prayer was his favorite song and when I listen to the album from start to finish, it makes me reflect on all the pain and loss I've felt in my life. I just connect with Joanne so much more than Gaga's other projects

I can’t wrap my head around how many voted for Joanne :volantis: that album is so underrated.

I would erase ARTPOP easily.
