Future Lovers 7,680
Carter was a one term president following Gerald Ford and preceding Ronald Regan. As a democrat, he successfully ascended to the presidency in the wake of the Watergate scandal that had tarnished republican reputation. By all accounts a kind and agreeable man, these traits are considered to have contributed to an incredibly up and down presidency. Carter presided over one of the most significant recessions in the country's history, helped to broker a temporary peace between between Israel and Egypy, and the highly controversial Iran hostage crisis, the latter of which is considered to've cost him a second term. After his presidency, Carter remained actively engaged with the world and became what his now perhaps best known for today: a humanitarian. He worked with Habitat for Humanity, building houses well into his 90s. He taught at Emory University for over 37 years. He as acted as a goodwill ambassador for the US and Korea. He has participated extensively in hurricane relief. Few would claim his presidency a stunning success, himself included. But his life has been well lived and it's sad to see him entering his twilight years. But he has had an outstanding run as perhaps the only president to do just as much good, maybe even more, for the world out of office than he did while he was in it. StarstruckIllusion 53,579
Ugghhhh this makes me so sad. He deserved to live as long as he did tho. Truly a model president, especially after his term. He’s got a heart of gold and tbh only likeable living president tbh…
Shipper 13,114
I never heard of him before Maybe cause he is actually a genuinely good and kind person. At least he has not stopped helping when he was removed from office and he seems like such a nice grandpa. And he pardoned everyone for evading the draft. 🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶
ProfessionalClown 10,647
Rarely ever hear anything say anything bad bout him, if ever. Just a great man who’s done a lot of good. I’m happy he can at least be comfortable at home on hospice around the people he loves. Tbh I think that’s the most someone can ask for in their final days. Be with family, be with those you love, have some care for you, and have the calmness to know you’re gonna go peacefully as well. Will always be remembered as one of the best fr
