I don't believe anyone can say for certain, but it has more or less been heavily implied that Melanie wants to move past the Crybaby character altogether. If my memory serves correct, I think she said at one of the dates for The Trilogy Tour something along the lines of "this is the last time I'm performing these songs" in reference to songs from Cry Baby/K-12? Given what we know, Crybaby's story ended with Portals. I believe Melanie also went on to say that her next album will more than likely be centered around her and not have a character attached to it(?) Not sure though, I'm probably wrong about that. Also, Needle & Thread was more than likely up against Light Shower for the 4th spot on the tracklist. This theory is supported by the fact that both songs start with rain sounds as well as both being more slower songs. Spoiler I kind of wish Needle & Thread won though ngl. I remembe rmeeting her in 2016 during the Crybaby Tour and guessing that the theme of her second album was 'school'. She got all excited and whispered in my ear not to tell anyone. She gave me 3 hugs that day everything just feels so different now. I find myself wondering if she's even going to finish the Portals videos now But all the negativity aside, happy 10 years to an amazing album! All this time we've spent in this wacky, wonderful universe and all the special memories we've gathered over the years this album and the memories still mean so much to me Edit: P.S. I'm a bit disappointed that (to my knowledge) she didn't really acknowledge the tenth anniversary and instead used it as an opportunity for monetary gain. After all, the perfume itself was nearly $200. I understand perfume can be quite pricey, and this reproduction being twice the size of the original contributes to that price point as well. But still, $200 is $200. I have a lot of nostalgia for Cry Baby and K-12 as well! And I love that story! I'm glad you were able to experience that. -- Cry Baby and its era are very meaningful to me. We were getting fed so much! We're lucky to even get crumbs now in comparison lol I still have hope that Melanie will continue the videos for Portals. I think she's just taking her time in planning them out if not getting everything together to film them. After all, based on prior knowledge, it was revealed to us that Melanie had every music video up until Spider Web filmed at the time of Tunnel Vision's music video release(?) -- I don't quite remember when we were told that, but I do remember that Spider Web was still a few songs away before we even got to see its video. For all we know, she has multiple videos already filmed and just currently being edited! As for the collectors, they technically still have a collector's item! They would've purchased the initial release of the perfume, and, as stated above, the reproduction has twice the amount and larger packaging. Thereby making the original unique in its own way! Although I could personally never justify handing over hundreds of dollars for a perfume, regardless of who created it among other details, I definitely won't judge anyone who does! I'll still pop in Yeah, the past few years have definitely made it tough to be a Crybaby. I do get what you're saying and sadly, have to agree. Melanie has changed a lot since her debut, and to her defense, its been a decade, she was literally 19/20 at the time of its conception/release. I definitely don't expect her to be the same person she was at 20 now that she's 30. But, she almost seems like a completely different person in a way. The personality and art I fell in love with feel incredibly distant from the one we see today from the scarce social media posts we're privy to. I feel the same away as well, I'm excited for what the future holds in terms of what she has cooking up music wise. But, I'm not as passionate about her or her music in comparison to previous years. Don't get me wrong, I still absolutely adore her music and will always appreciate her, but the disconnect in recent years has been a bit jarring to me, especially since I was around for the cry baby era back in 2015. Also, apologies about the very few posts, its just that with how Melanie's socials are run, there's virtually nothing to report on that isn't...merchandise.
