INNA 3,760
Imagine being at your job and being on the verge of pissing yourself, and your boss tells you you can’t use the bathroom because they don’t think you should have to do so yet. Or criticizes you for having a drink of water? You guys sound so elderly and narrow as well for criticizing them for needing to relieve themselves or take a moment after 2 hours of work, are you saying these things because you’ve been forced to keep working when you needed a break yourself, so by that logic everyone should have to endure the same, despite their needs? I hope y’all never become anyone’s bosses. fragment-fragment--bul-uh...scab-uh..fragment-foot, bullet fragment foot bich!

Extras being treated poorly isn’t unheard of, and if they’ve reported issues to the SAG, it shouldn’t be disregarded or laughed at. I have already managed several local film productions. It is true that there are certain instances of mistreatment and miscommunication, especially with huge productions. We do not know the whole story, but if it really only stemmed out from restricting them from bathroom breaks for only "over two hours," it is not reasonable enough to report it instantly. Unless, they really do have a medical condition which they should have disclosed before they partake the production. Personally, it sounds to me that the person who have reported this is that privileged. 𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚎𝚕𝚢.

Personally, it sounds to me that the person who have reported this is that privileged. Do you really think these people would go out of their way, risk their employment and file complaints if there weren’t good reasons? Read the article, there isn’t a lot of work at the moment, these people need these jobs. Keeping in mind how much an extra is paid, I wouldn’t call any one of them « privileged ». It also doesn’t matter for how long someone has been kept on set: if someone needs a bathroom break for whatever reason, or a glass of water, they shouldn’t have to plead a case to ADs to get it, or have to wait a disproportionate amount of time. We both know shooting schedules are insane, even more so in the US, and we absolutely should NOT consider the resulting issues normal. This is just the tip of a bigger iceberg, and it’s kinda making me sad that people are laughing at the OP because this is symptomatic of how the entertainment industry, and all industries for that matter, are sacrificing basic human decency in favor of productivity. It is not normal, nor funny.

They should be allowed to use a restroom if they need, it's only humane, but as I've read they've already complained to SAG and the production seems like it will comply, but, like, this sounds so weird to me, as if they were looking for things to complain about Cost a a lot of money to roll cameras though. I’m sure there contract states the potential of needing to work for 2-3 hours straight with no breaks

G U C C I 5,513
Contracts and ndas for film sets are extremely specific. I understand if someone needs to go they should be allowed but they also knew before hand that there would be instances of not having a bathroom break available to them. Obviously medical conditions are an entirely different story but to make public complaints (assuming this is non-fiction by tmz) is ridiculous. Namely for a couple of reasons: 1) most Americans (i can already here the Europeans now and I agree but unfortunately we aren’t on your level yet) work in hustle culture and jobs demand long hours without your needs in mind. Do the work first, you second. This job is here and they signed up for it. 2) what grown adult (barring medical conditions) has to go to the bathroom every two hours to the point this situation has devolved into a tmz piece? I understand if you need to go then you should be allowed to without obstacles but come on every two hours? It seems a little much to me personally. Not the best. They would have died anyway because the material conditions of those working in healthcare have deteriorated so immensely, that they can't do they're jobs anymore due to short staffing/labour violations/sickness. It's not like health care workers are protesting because it's fun and they wanna protest for the sake of it. They're protesting because people have died in their arms, from preventable causes, because the Western governments of the world put the interests of big capital in front of the general public interest of having a functional healthcare system.
