FfFfFfFF 58,120
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, announced in a press statement on Monday that the Russian Federation has an action plan underway to remove the democratically elected leadership from Chisinau. Internal forces associated with fugitive oligarchs Ilan Șor and Vlad Plahotniuc, but also citizens from Russia, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro, would be involved in the operation, according to Maia Sandu's statements. The plan for the next period involves actions with the involvement of diversionists with military training, camouflaged in civilian clothes, who will undertake violent actions, attack some state buildings and take hostages. Spoiler According to Maia, the first part of the plan took place at the end of last year but failed. Through violent actions, masked under protests of the so-called opposition, the change of power in Chisinau would be forced. The purpose of these actions is the overthrow of the constitutional order, the exchange of legitimate power with an illegitimate one that would put our country at the disposal of Russia. Dennis 8,391
Sadly as easily as Russia managed to foment a civil war in Ukraine, they can do the same in Moldova. Hard economic situations make people dislike the current government no matter how democratic it is. And poor people will dream of a "better tomorrow" under Russia (they'll realize they're wrong only when it's too late). Why can't the EU and other countries organize a fund to help Moldova's struggling economy?

Why can't the EU and other countries organize a fund to help Moldova's struggling economy? I don't think it's only an issue of money. Moldova was heavily indoctrinated by the Soviets, even more than Ukraine, and as a result Russian oligarchs and power schemes were always at home here. The pro-EU portion of Moldova used their Romanian passports and left for EU and the ones that remained in the country are mostly the elderly and pro-communists, in other words there was a process of selection. The current government is also the only democratic government Moldova ever had since independence and Moldova's past certainly still has a big echo on its present.
