moonsago 7,285 Posted February 8, 2023 Share Posted February 8, 2023 I like the album so much more than her first one, the production is amazing.Ā However, her songwriting does not impress me at all on this record... on the contrary, I feel like her first album was better in this regard and even so, that does not say a lot.Ā There are so many cliche lyrics and basic phrases and ideas weāve heard before, it really brings down the quality of her work imo. I think she should focus more on storytelling and learning how to constructĀ lyrics that feel more evolved and sophisticated. I know this is basic pop music and trust me I adore that, even this album has been on constant repeat since it came out, but I believe she has the potential to achieve something a little bit more meaningful that would make her be taken more seriously as an artist. I think her melody composingĀ capabilities are great tho,Ā she really knows how to write a catchy tune, but I want to see her push herself a little bit more, especially as I said, lyrics wise.
