AntonTurnItUp 7,048 Posted February 6, 2023 Share Posted February 6, 2023 Checking Gaga's awards, I realized that surprisingly she has never won any of the 3 main GRAMMY categories, something that could be incredible since she has given us real high-quality work, but as we saw at today's gala, the academy may have some setbacks. I want to ask you: do you think that in the following years she can win at least one of these categories? if yes, how long would it take and what genre, style, theme should have this work to be awarded? LilyLark 9,928 Posted February 6, 2023 Share Posted February 6, 2023 The Grammys are messy and honestly there is a lot of politicking behind the scenes by the labels, etc. I've honestly been a bit baffled as to how they treat Gaga sometimes, too. An AOTY nom for her last album with Tony and a SOTY for Always Remember Us this Way (deserved), but nothing for Bad Romance? She's been nominated enough times in the major categories that I'm sure she'll win someday, but I also feel like people should stop caring about the Grammys so much. And I do feel like they take dance pop less seriously (that said, obviously artists of color and hip hop/rap have an even more difficult time than dance pop)....I was shocked 1989 won tbh. The previous pop winners almost always had a strong element of folk/rock in their albums. *I am not saying this to shame or slam Billie (I'm a massive fan of her last album), but she's a good example. 'Bad Guy' was everywhere, but the production/lyrics are honestly...not that impressive...even compared to her other songs! However, it was popular. But Truth Hurts by Lizzo was even more popular and Lana's songs from Norman F*cking Rockwell were more acclaimed...and yet Billie swept those two a few years back.
