Economy 52,902 Posted January 29, 2023 Share Posted January 29, 2023 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/hazel-mccallion-dead-at-101-1.6730009 Legendary Canadian Hazel McCallion died at 101 (she was going to be 102 in 2 weeks) For anyone who doesn't know, she was the Mayor Of Mississauga (Canada's 6th Largest city, and largest Toronto metro Suburb) for 36 years She was so popular that she stopped campaigning each term but would still win over 90% of votes. In 2005 she won second place in the world for world's best mayor behind Mayor Dora of Athens When she retired as mayor at 93 she continued to work as a transportation minister and was involved in University duties Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

She was in good health and mobile till pretty close to the end and with her mind intact...
