The first snow in Buila-Vânturariţa National Park (smallest natural park in Romania)

With approximately 4200 hectares, Romsilva-Buila-Vânturariţa National Park is the smallest park in, but it is also one of the most spectacular and wild places to see.

The park includes the calcareous ridge of the Buila-Vânturariţa Massif, with a length of approximately 14 kilometers, from the west of the Bistriţi Vâlcene Gorge to the east of the Olăneşti Gorge. Because the area is difficult to access, many elements of the natural heritage have been preserved unaltered.

The Bistriţa Gorges are the most famous sector, spectacular because they are very narrow. Over 120 caves have been mapped in the area, but the only ones that can be visited are the Cave of Saint Grigorie the Decapolitan or the Cave of the Bats and the Cave of the Bears. The tourist potential is a special one.

19 tourist routes have been set up in the park, including three thematic routes. To these are added approximately one hundred climbing routes, among the most difficult in Europe.

The Buila-Vânturariţa National Park is located in Vâlcea County, in the south of the Căpățănii Mountains, and includes the linear limestone ridge of the Buila-Vânturarița Massif. The park has an area of 4,186 hectares,3,868 being forests
