Growing up as an Ellen watched all through my childhood really warped my perception on what was annoying and uncalled for when it came to interviews like this. Like truly, I could not picture a single interview playing out like this nowadays, people don’t really tolerate questions/jokes like this the way they used to. 
 

I remember watching this when I was 11 and thinking it was funny and that Taylor thought it was funny too, but wow oh wow is that not how I see it now.

ellen appeals to the WASP housewife type and they love her because she asks the kinda rude questions it would be 'unbecoming' of them to ask. 

the hate for her is OTT and is driven by homophobia. ellen is bad but you'd think she's the devil the way people go for her

It’s such a relic of the 90s/2000s/early 2010s way of consuming celebrity. It’s right up there with the mass love and adoration of pillars like TMZ and Perez Hilton, etc. 

You could either be a celebrity who was loved and was good at taking constant jabs at you, you have tough skin, you can take a joke, etc. or you could be a celebrity that was made fun of and bullied even further for your lack of a sense of humour. It’s gross, but it truly places those periods of time in perspective.

Its sad that they really used to embarrass Taylor a lot at the begging of her career,she did not deserve all this embarrassment 

Also whenever old clips from successful shows from the past resurface, it puts into perspective the kind of things that we used to enjoy watching. This was the culture and these were the trendy things everyone talked about and we as a society collectively participated in it one way or another if not, they wouldn't have been on our screens

I saw that on tiktok this morning I wonder why Taylor even came back to Ellen after this. I think Ellen is one of those people who will excuse their own misbehavior and mean things they've said or done with their "humor"
