I hate the fact that this happens all the time with Taylor: the "other artist" has to feel like they have to apologize and say they love Taylor while she herself just stays silent, doesn't show support for them and continues to allow this for her own numbers, milking the hell out of her fanbase under the pretext of doing this just for them.

You do you SZA, you're already doing amazing and SOS deserves.

Both have spent multiple weeks at #1 yes. Midnights is at 5 and SOS has already secured it’s 4th or this is the the battle for the 4th week, I’m not sure which. 

Narratives will be painted as usual, but SZA herself is the only one with any room to be upset. I think these digital covers from Taylor are kinda useless personally and if she absolutely had to do them I’d have rather it been closer to the tour (now doesn’t make a ton of sense even business wise) but if SZA isn’t out here feeling trod upon, then I’ll follow her lead. If she feels wronged, then even as a Taylor fan, I’d back her on this. But she’s a humble generous queen and it’s pretty clear the fighting “in her honor” makes her uncomfortable. 

She’s been slaying and that isn’t going to change any time soon. They’ve both gotten their flowers, they’re both now in the stage of post-opening boost strategies. Neither of them stands to really lose anything here since they’ve both already achieved their goals with their albums. It’s just a good old fashioned chart battle.

Should this even be considered a battle? Both have secured #1. Why are both (especially Taylor) trying to get more weeks at #1? What’s the benefit?

At this point she's had soooo much success. She should let someone else have their moment to shine, instead of desperately scraping to hold that #1  

SZA is a new artist with a lot to prove and she really deserves her moment. It might only happen once for her

I totally agree with you but yes, SZA is a newER artist but she's not new. Even though this is her second album, she's been releasing music since 2012
