The tweets range from racist against the Chinese, Koreans, African Americans, to Islamophobic and anti-vax. It's a mess and a half. They're fairly recent too (most are from less than 5 years ago :toofunny:)

Some examples:

“Sorry, is it just my impression or are there more and more Muslims in Spain? Every time I go to pick up my daughter from school there are more women with their hair covered and their skirts down to their heels,” she posted on Nov. 23, 2020. “Maybe next year instead of English we’ll have to teach Arabic.”

“More and more the #Oscars are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films, I didn’t know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration or the 8M. Apart from that, an ugly, ugly gala.”

I'm sure some people will disagree, but these aren't one or two bigoted tweets, these were dozens upon dozens of racist, vile tweets, and at some point you have to wonder if you can even feign ignorance or pretend you didn't know better when you were pushing 50. She's a vile, nasty person, a RACIST bigot, and deserves to have her career in showbusiness end. Remove her accolades and let her fade back into obscurity.

It's so disappointing seeing people from marginalized communities denigrate other marginalized people.

We're all we got and without eachother we'll get eaten alive.

She used this as an excuse in her apology. She said she's from a marginalized community so she knows how those tweets must've felt like. That's somehow even worse lol

If she knew then why'd she hit the post button? Girl..... bye. Amidst all the (deserved imo) criticism the film is getting, I was still happy to see her nominated. Then this stuff spread.

At this point im so used to these kind of comments, almost all atheists comments on Muslims are like this, even on this website.

She was on MasterChef Celebrity Mexico (season 2, I think) and kept trash-talking a gay contestant just because he was "too feminine." Turns out he’s a pretty sketchy guy too, lol, but back then, we had no idea. Still, the fact that Karla was bothered by his femininity rather than his actual flaws said a lot about her

God, bigots continue to baffle me. It's the complete lack of shame that astounds me. I mean, I'm sadly not surprised that this has come out, because I'm used to people being revealed to be disappointing, hateful individuals, but after two decades of constant parroting about online footprints, who on earth would put this stuff online and keep it there, hoping nobody will ever find it? I don't know if it's hubris or stupidity, but it always amazes me.

Interesting. Most of the ignorant comments about Muslims I've seen are from conservative Christians and those with strong ties to Israel post 10/7. Wherever it comes from, you shouldn't have to be used to all that 💜

So, I've been learning Spanish a bit, and from what I've read/heard, Spanish is made up of Latin for the most part, but also borrows from Arabic. Idk, thinking about that just makes the irony and hypocrisy of bigotry more pronounced to me, like girl, you share more heritage and kinship with those people than you think, but you're so adamant about alienating them that you'll probably never discover it.

It's sad that people who undoubtedly had to deal with bigotry throughout their life, fall for it so easily. Like, despite all the controversy surrounding the movie, I was so happy we had a transperson nominated for a Lead Performance Oscar - this sours it so much :noparty:

She’s not gonna win either way.

The interviewers should just grill her on the red carpet. Or the Oscars host can crack jokes about her tweets.

Palestine didn't begin to exist on October 7th. It's almost like an unbelievable joke how so many people pretend that the war started on that day...
