You & I fits on which album best?

For anybody else it would probably feel out of place but Gaga already established early on in her career that all of her albums have one rock/band song, like Speechless eg.
it would also fit on Joanne though

You and I belongs with Born This Way. It's anthemic heavy 80s rock style is the perfect accompaniment to the rest of the album.

I appreciate your point, but Joanne is generally a much softer and more acoustic rock, folk and country vibe that You and I would jar with. That's not to say there isn't a softer acoustic version in a parallel universe that slots perfectly into Joanne but the version we know ... nah she's right where she belongs.

Yaaaas Gaga

I think it fits well on Born This Way, particularly amongst songs like Heavy Metal Lover and Electric Chapel. If it was to feature on any other album then I'd probably pick Joanne.

Not a single Gaga song belongs to another album imo, her tracklists are crafted with attention

Wasn’t “Yoü & I” an outtake from The Fame Monster? Or maybe just an early track written for BTW?

I remember her performing it on some morning show WAYYY before BTW album was announced even.

It wasn’t an outtake, just performed earlier than the release. She said at an Elton John event that she just wrote it but probably wouldn’t be a single, which is why she performed it before the album came out / promoting.

I agree with OP. I started listening to the older albums for the first time these last few months and BTW seems to have a constant theme and sound until You and I which sounds out of place IMO.

Tbh it could have been a stand alone single, it was done during the TFM era and she performed it way before the album came out.

The production sounds nothing like Joanne imo, also she didn't use that "raw" voice she used in Joanne (thank god) but a more natural one, more like the way she performed Joanne Piano version. It fits perfectly on BTW and it's her best ballad imo.

I think it belongs on Born This Way, but  the Monster Ball version.

I still am indifferent of how the album version ended up. The Monster Ball version was untouchable. It really got the crowd going with everyone hugging and swaying and drinking. Just like Born This Way.
