I've experienced the same thing. Ever since I got Covid (even though at the time I was vaccinated thrice), my immune system has been really weak and I get sick way more frequently.

Same :bradley:

Soft, soothing, and succulent

Not sure why this isn't mentioned but a lot of the infectious disease college professors I follow on Twitter are saying that COVID suppresses the immune system for about six months after infection which makes any illness you get much worse.

Yup.another reason why lots of people are unlocking autoimmune diseases: arthritis, urticaria and so on. Worked at neurology unit and one of the doctors mentioned a bit of high cases of MS from post Covid too.

Is that for everyone or like ppl that react a certain way?

It doesn't seem to be known. Here's one source that runs through some recent research: https://theconversation.com/ive-had-covid-and-am-constantly-getting-colds-did-covid-harm-my-immune-system-am-i-now-at-risk-of-other-infectious-diseases-188899

the media will do anything to point to preventative measures (distancing, masks) instead of taking into account things like this.

were these children vaccinated is my next question which is probably “no”, and that would also have a hand in preventing serious infection.

But u mean, this was bound to happen the moment social distancing/masks took some steps back. Flus and viruses that were supressed were gonna return with a vengeance and hit us harder since we hadn't been exposed as much...

I don't think it's reasonable to keep living like that forever either and kick the can the road forever.

I would imagine next year won't be as bad.

the mask mandate has been over for most places for nearly a year. most places have been opened up for quite some time. i recognize perhaps people were still masking at the peak of flu season last year, but still.

it’s also literally the bare minimum to not go out when you’re feeling unwell and if you absolutely have to, you mask. again i recognize that won’t completely fix the problem but i am confident that hospitals would strain less if people rubbed two brain cells together before crying about “my freedom”.

My asthma came back after 18 years of remission. I wonder if covid played a role (tho I know my apartment and last job was at least partially to blame)

Well common sense stuff like staying away/masking when ur sick, washing hands etc I agree

I just thought u meant cuz social distancing and masking mandates ended. I mean at some point they had to an it was inevitable that innitially when we did flus and sicknesses would surge

I myself typically got sick 1-2 times a year but then didn't get sick for over 1.5 years straight during covid. No even a mild cold which is not normal for me

But now in 2022 I got sick 4 or 5 times lol. Over double my typical year

I think being locked down and being so cautious has been an issue. Immune systems get stronger by being exposed to germs/bacteria. I’ve noticed since lockdown and mask mandates have ended that I’ve been sick more often than before the pandemic… I spoke to a doctor and he’s noticing the same.
