i'm so tired of old people saying BS like this.

I hope when our generation gets old that we are not this bitter, deluded, backwards and dumb.

I worry that its like part of aging to become so cynical and be bitter like this...I hope our generation ends that curse when we get to these people's age

Yeah I mean her generation were the generation of women starting to step up and take charge, she was around during the start (and end) of the Women's Lib Movement and Im sure her and MANY other females were doing what they had to do. No where in the article does she say just sit there and take it. She said they would stand up for one another and NOT take it from anyone.

I defiantly get her point when she's saying it's fashionable to play a victim. I've seen plenty examples of women taking simple compliments by men as sexual harassment.

Making fun of a 76 year old woman's appearance is not the gag you think it is :awkney:

We’re all going to be outdated too, and it’s gonna happen sooner than you think.

I choose to grant those who came before me a little grace, and try to understand that the world has changed around them faster than they could keep up with… because I know that some day the world will eclipse me as well.

What she said is a reflection of what her reality was - instead of attacking her for it or getting angry, why not be thankful standards have changed?

Nope. This is a false statement.

It's not babe, trust me :ohwell:

You denying it and saying it's a false statement is the first step. Eventually you'll be challenged on being outdated and you'll feel offended. We all think we're forever relevant and up to date, but we all fall off in the end! :huntyga:

I'm pretty sure that people who were harassed and assaulted back in the day don't feel "tougher" for the experiences.

Very much this. I’ve seen it happen in my family and my own experience as well.
My mother is close to 70 and she definitely doesn’t feel “tougher” after her experiences :saladga:

I know this is a tough concept for some, but people are a product of their time and what she said accurately reflects the world she grew up in and had to deal with head on.

Yeah. You could count on Purdey to bring a double-barelled shotgun to the exchange !

Just because someone is older, doesn't mean they can't learn and adapt their thinking. We are not going to make excuses for someone's ignorant statements that blame SA victims.
