Nice list on how our fanbase can get messy sometimes. Enjoy, some of us get nice throwback from this :lmao:
(I was involved in 95% of this **** :smh: )

Little Monsters have always been one of the most dedicated and creative fanbases, and over the years, they've come up with hilarious and unconventional marketing strategies to promote Lady Gaga and her music. Here are some of the funniest and most iconic ones:

1. Buying “Applause” Instead of Food (2013)

When “Applause” was released, Little Monsters were so determined to get it to #1 that some fans skipped meals and tweeted things like:
🗣 “I haven’t eaten in two days because I’m using my money to buy ‘Applause’ on iTunes.”
This led to a meme of Monsters starving for the charts, and even Gaga joked about it, telling fans to “eat and stay healthy” while streaming the song.

2. Streaming Marathons & Fake Sleep Playlists (2019)

To boost "Shallow" and later "Stupid Love", fans created 10-hour loop playlists on Spotify and encouraged others to leave them playing overnight. Some even posted tips on how to trick Spotify’s algorithm by using VPNs, switching devices, and adjusting volume levels.

3. “Shallow” at Trump Rallies (2020)

During the 2020 U.S. election, Donald Trump mocked Gaga, and in response, her fans started playing “Shallow” at Trump rallies and outside polling stations, turning it into a protest anthem.

4. "1000 Doves" Bird Accounts on Twitter (2020)

When Gaga’s song “1000 Doves” from Chromatica came out, fans created Twitter accounts pretending to be doves and tweeted things like:
🕊 “Buy ‘1000 Doves’ or I won’t flap my wings again.”

5. The Great ARTPOP Petition & Protest (2014-2021)

After ARTPOP flopped due to label mismanagement, Little Monsters never let it go. They started:
A petition for an ‘ARTPOP Act II’ that got over 50,000 signatures.
A Twitter protest, where they spammed Interscope Records to make Gaga release the unreleased ARTPOP tracks.
This actually worked, as Gaga herself acknowledged it and ARTPOP shot back to the top of iTunes charts years later.

6. "Do What U Want" Taken Too Literally (2013)

Gaga’s single “Do What U Want” had a marketing campaign where she encouraged fans to physically promote the song in real life. Monsters took it too far by:

Plastering stickers and posters in random places (including police stations).
Yelling “BUY ‘DO WHAT U WANT’” in public places like shopping malls and train stations.

7. McDonald’s Drive-Thru “Rain On Me” Takeovers (2020)

When “Rain On Me” dropped, Little Monsters flooded McDonald’s drive-thrus and sang the song to employees. Some even paid for orders using Gaga lyrics, confusing workers who had no idea what was happening.

8. “Stupid Love” Leaks & "Did Gaga Hack Us?" (2020)

“Stupid Love” leaked over a month before its release, and instead of waiting, fans:
Made fake album covers and alternative edits of the song.
Blamed the leak on “Gaga hacking Interscope” because she was “tired of waiting.”
Some fans made fake text messages pretending Gaga personally asked them to stream it.

9. Lady Gaga in Random Wikipedia Pages (2010s)

Monsters edited Wikipedia pages of random historical events, scientific discoveries, and even animals to include Gaga.
For example:

The moon landing page briefly said Gaga was the first artist to perform on the moon.
A dinosaur species page claimed Gaga discovered it.

10. Chromatica Oreo Scalping & Fake Stockouts (2021)

When Gaga’s Chromatica Oreos were released, some fans:
Bought in bulk and resold them for hundreds of dollars.
Posted fake stockouts on Twitter, saying “Monsters ate them all, sorry.”
Some pretended they tasted magical and that eating them would make you a better dancer like Gaga.

11. “Buy Born This Way or You’re Homophobic” (2011)

When Born This Way was released, Little Monsters guilt-tripped people into buying it by saying:

“If you don’t buy the album, you’re against LGBTQ+ rights.”
“This is not an album, it’s a movement.”
This made some casual listeners feel like they had no choice but to buy it to prove they weren’t homophobic.

12. “Free Joanne Hat With Every Stream” (Fake) (2016)

During the Joanne era, a fake rumor started that streaming the album on Spotify would enter you into a giveaway for Gaga’s pink Joanne hat. Many fell for it, only to realize it was a joke started by a fan.

13. Calling Radio Stations as Random People (2010s)

To boost Gaga’s songs, fans:

Called radio stations pretending to be old ladies requesting Gaga’s songs.
Pretended to be truck drivers, grandmas, and kids to make it seem like EVERY demographic loved her.

14. The “Justice for G.U.Y.” Movement (2014)

Gaga’s song “G.U.Y.” flopped commercially, and fans started:
Spamming “Justice for G.U.Y.” under every random tweet, even if it had nothing to do with music.
Begging people to stream it, sometimes threatening to haunt them if they didn’t.

15. Editing Charts & Fake #1 Claims (2010s)

Little Monsters edited Billboard charts, Wikipedia pages, and even Google results to falsely show Gaga had #1 hits when she didn’t. This led to casual fans believing she had broken records that she actually hadn’t (at least at the time).

Final Thoughts

Little Monsters have always been hilariously over-the-top when it comes to promoting Gaga. While some tactics were silly and chaotic, they actually worked, helping Gaga dominate pop culture. Even Gaga herself has acknowledged their efforts, calling them “the best fanbase in the world.”
