Actually not the head of Pfizer, Pfizer’s president of international developed markets. Also, it was eventually tested for transmission prevention, but this was an indirect effect and Pfizer didn't seek emergency authorization based on transmission but symptoms. The direct goal of the vaccine was to reduce symptoms to the point people stopped dying or having to be hospitalized, although it's pretty obvious that if you can make people asymptomatic then you can reduce transmission, as they're not going to be coughing etc. BUT that probably has never been universally established in medicine because it's too broad so Pfizer would have had to establish it.

It actually wasnt focused on transmission. Yes that was the end goal but the trials that got it initially authorized focused on symptoms.

For the EUA enabling work, yes. There are multiple sources form 1.5 years+ that corroborates with that. But the way that member worded their post, in context of this thread, made it sound like they were sharing the same rhetoric anti-vaxxers are currently sharing online (which is that the vaccine never shared that end goal, which is unequivocally false). I apologize for jumping in like that, but working in public health and biomed has really warn me out with these kinds of arguments and conversations online tbh
