Untrue but go off I guess.

Find me public gay marriage support before 2013 and prove me wrong. She was scared of the homophobia (and may have even been one herself, given her conservative Christian upbringing-- but people change... Katy was super homophobic and evolved, and I'm glad Beyonce did, too. Lady Gaga was from NYC, so probably had a more liberal upbringing, so it was easier for her to support our community very, very early on.

All Beyonce can do is mention she had a gay uncle, and I bet if he were still alive, he'd say the family treated him like an outcast and that Bey is using him for cover.

I was hasty with my reply and didn't specify what I found wrong about your statement; that part is my bad. The first time she specifically talked about marriage equality was when it became a legal case. You're correct about that.

She has been a supporter for longer than a lot of the girls have even acknowledged the community positively.

'In a 2011 interview with Pride Source, the superstar acknowledged the difficulty of coming out and said that she was in awe of her gay fans. “The amount of confidence and fearlessness it takes to do what maybe is not what your parents expect you to do or what society may think is different — to be brave and be different and to be yourself — is just so beautiful,” she said. “Not worrying about satisfying or becoming what other people think you’re supposed to be, that’s like the ultimate dream.”'

And she's never gone on hate speech tirades, which is more than can be said of the other one in question 👀

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

Oh for sure, I don't think she should be attacked for being late to the party (2011 is still very, very late to me... I mean Gaga gave a speech at the Capitol in 2009, the very beginning of her career). But I also don't think Bey should be lifted up as a queer icon and be able to appropriate our culture when she hasn't done the work or earned it. She would need to apologize for not being there when she was needed most.
