Shakira sparks fury for jumping a queue at a Halloween attraction

When you are a celebrity- especially one with global reach like Shakira. You give up having a private life in almost every regard. Every time you are in public can be a safety risk or it can just be people badgering you when you’re trying to live your everyday life. Her skipping a line is honestly a necessity as it is for most celebrities because if they don’t there is risk to safety of her and of the crowd god forbid people start to swarm and mob her. It’s not her fault that we as humans put celebrities on a pedestal that then make it impossible for daily tasks to be done without interruption or risks.

I get when people say it would be a security risk for her to wait in line, but this annoyance comes from the fact that there are some people out there starting to realize how f* up worshipping celebrities is or that they can do whatever they want, its a "eat the rich" kind of thing. Plus not everyone listens to shakira they probably weren't even listeners of her music lol so I understand them being annoyed.

But regardless, tbh the worse thing was the fact that she didn't even care, I mean, there were people crying out in annoyance and she didnt even show shame.

I do believe things could have been handled differently, like her security team doing the queue for her, asking for permission to the crowd in a sweet way (like, she was gonna jump it anyway, at least be nice about it or show some kind of -fake- embarassment?) or letting people know beforehand or something, because apparently it all came from nowhere, rude af!

She could have at least sang waka waka for the crowd :billie:

You’re right on one hand, many other international superstars would have even went as far as closing the whole attraction for their visit.
on the other hand, she could still skip the line but do it in a way that doesn’t annoy others. Like maybe approach some of them and “ask” for their permission or like some other user pointed out, have their security queue for them.
could’ve been handled much kinder I believe.

haven't read the article but your suggestions don't sound viable. To ask for permission to skip line sounds awkward af, like what would she say, 'hi, im shakira, do you mind if i hop on before you? thxs so much!"

or ask their security to wait in line for 2 hours while she does ... what? // of course being a public figure comes with certain privileges and while it'd be good to be grounded and not expect them everywhere or at all costs, you also don't need to pass them up when offered at no cost for others. the waka waka hitmaker has earned her halloween rollercoaster

I just wanna point out that her team may have organized this ahead of time with the attraction for them to show up at a certain time. It’s sucks and I’d be pissed if I was there in the moment, but it is a security risk. Shakira is a megastar and out with her family.

Most parks have “fast pass” systems now that anyone can pay to skip the main line. I pay for this eveytime I go to a park and sometimes it’s crazy how fast it is, one day I literally just walked on to every ride, walking past a long line up in the empty and adjacent “fast pass” line and got on the very next ride. Zero wait. And I’m just a civilian. I’m sure they can use this cut the line infrastructure whenever they need to for celebrities and it shouldn’t be that weird to people.  They see fast pass people getting to go on faster all the time but they only freak out when it’s a celebrity they recognize.

It was because of the way it was handled that was the problem

this is not how a queen behaves :awkney:

That is cos a queen would riding her decorated carriage with such long entourage to go inside, so the theme park have to be closed for them alone that day, instead of walking passed the commoners on foot like Shaki did, while letting these regular people still being able to enjoy the fun with a little queue.

Maybe news to some, but life isn’t fair unfortunately and when you’re a nobody you don’t get a free pass in a line. Someone famous does. Who cares.

Y’all seriously underestimate how obnoxious human beings actually are around famous people.

Gaga literally does not live a normal life because of it. Britney Spears literally had a mental health crisis because of it. For a pop culture forum people really don’t seem to get  pop culture.

Hon, what you talking about?

Yes, asking someone for their understanding when you take away THEIR place is bare minimum and human courtesy that we face everywhere from supermarkets to hospitals.
Yes, someone from her security team could queue before Shakira’s arrival, what do you mean what is she supposed to do?

And, if you are so willing for people to give up their rights to someone because they are a popstar, I kindly hope you haven’t chosen politics as profession.

yeah it’s a damn rollercoaster nobody cares about, go Shak, enjoy the ride but like no need to defend a low bar behavior and come for people who suggest kinder options.

Some of y'all really need to touch grass smh.

These celebs can pass thru at theme park easy for a reason. Y'all already forget how Nicki was mobbed at street of London when she was just walking earlier this year, huh?

Here to refresh your mind;

Same thing can happen to Shakira or any celebrity, hell, even some toktok famous can cause this kind of mobbing. And causing discomfort and safety issue for everybody. And some of y'all still want them to queue like regular person and calling it kinder options? Chile... be realistic and learn how life works :smh:

Of course she did that, who expected anything else is a little bit delusional.

I am sure it happened because every single superstar would have done the same, but 20minutos and Socialité as sources... Oh my, they are trash :ladyhaha:
