Wow! So much for people always dragging her as “local”.

This means sh!t to be honest. Her previous albums all had impressive debuts but zero hits and fell off the charts in Europe and Latin America very fast.

If her album continues to perform well in those territories then yeah she's not local. However, I find it especially funny how many people look at this and go "she's NOT local lol" when that statement has been based on her past albums and songs and how they performed. Also, let's not forget how fanbases carry the first week but if the GP isn't on board afterwards the albums and songs fall hard as well.

Exactly. Cardigan broke the record of biggest drop in a second week of a number one song

She dominates the States so much, why does the EU not have the same love? Not comparing tho :laughga:

Mind you the big drop was on the hot 100, which means: fabricated numbers only for big debuts, even in the US

Yet you could ask most people in Europe if they like Taylor Swift and they would reply with "who?".

I understand she might not appeal to the GP but if she has enough fans to make her go #1 in multiples countries, then yeah, to me that's not being local at all

In Europe the consumption of music is different than in the US so it’s easy to be #1 with less than 1000 copies

And I wouldn’t be surprised if her American fans are buying from European online stores and using VPN just to bump her numbers there.

154mil streams in whole European market is low but still made her the 2nd most streamed artist there.

Local act no more :awesome:

People will still find excuses to diminish her gains, but TS wins this time. Sorry, I don't make the rules. :flower:

C'mon, the excuse that american fans are buying from european stores in multiple countries seems so lame to me. I am in Tokyo right now and all the stands that had her cd are empty. Also american fans came here to buy cds? :ladyhaha:

I don't know about mainland Europe but in the UK she tours stadiums and we love her. I think a lot of it is because her songs are quite lyric driven rather than straight bops so people who don't speak English as their first language might not vibe with two albums of lyric driven folk songs and a new album that is low on catchy hits but high on lyrically driven synthy songs.

Exactly. I live in a small European country and don't know a single person who listens to her music. Our media also reports about her pretty rarely, I literally don't know when I read some article about her. They are much more into Beyonce, Rihanna, Shakira, JLo, Gags too.

Really no shade but I wish I can understand the hype about her. I listened to Midnights once and I literally didn't have a wish to stream any song for the second time. Still congrats to her on the success ofc.

Same. Taylor is barely in the media here (at least reviews of the new album has been published) and almost nobody knows her. Gaga is already in the main news if she moves her finger.
