Flippy 11,757
Oop. Since I started this thread, I forgot to answer the new questions, so here I go: Favorite Final Girl? I think for me it would be Samara Weaving as Grace Le Domas in Ready Or Not (is she considered a final girl? Anyway…) Favorite Horror Movie Sub-Genre? I just love, love, LOVE Slasher and Body Horror Which horror movie remake do you prefer over the original? We have so many remakes and I have to say it’s between The Hills Have Eyes and Evil Dead for me Those two were amazing! hELXIG 41,810
Can you add Nosferatu onto 2025 too because noone got a chance to really talk about it in the other thread AND it only came out in NZ on Jan 1st so I literally just saw it yesterday on opening day And it was really good. I got a bit of a headache which spoiled it for me a little and sometimes I struggle to understand speaking when I have a headache so I'd love to go see it again! It was definitely a film to see on the big screen. There were a few shots that were so beautifully done I couldn't stop thinking about them after the film. And I absolutely love the way they used very dark and light tones to set a scene. There were some scenes where it was literally a black screen with just white highlights to make out what was going on. It felt really immersive and dark and I wonder if the use of dark and light contrast was a sort of homage to the original being a black and white film I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

We can still discuss Nosferatu on this thread! I believe @Real Panda would sometimes share their reviews of movies from previous years that he has seen and I loved looking into the films afterwards. @Fantina has also done a couple of those things as well as @Mother of Puppies so this can definitely continue to be done (It's actually encouraged!). I actually just watched Nosferatu last night and I have to say... I was slightly bored Until the last 30 minutes that is. I felt like certain things were dragged out too long but the cinematography and the costume design was top notch! I'd probably watch it again when it's out on streaming though. Did you hear that they're releasing an extended cut with the blu-ray? I wonder if that might add some more context to certain things. https://www.fangoria.com/nosferatu-extended-cut/ TMBT 3.22.11 // TBTWB 1.17.13 // ArtRAVE 6.3.14 // C2CT 5.28.15 // TJWT 8.13.17 // Chromatica World Tour 9.8.22

Fantina 3,279
I wanted to go to the premiere of Nosferatu, but I unfortunately got sick and am slowly recovering. Hopefully I feel better soon, so I can go see it sometime next week. In the meantime, I watched the original (1922) Nosferatu, and I really enjoyed it. Crazy how they managed to pull off this project in between 2 world wars. And to answer your questions: 1. In recent years, I have really been enjoying Lauren's performance as Sienna Shaw. She kills it every time and I love how she isn't afraid to throw hands with Art. 2. Gothic horror/Cosmic horror... I can't really decide between these two lol 3. I honestly don't know if I watched a remake that was better than the original. I have yet to watch most horror franchises (Evil Dead for instance), but when I do, I will let yall know whether I find the remake better than the original Until then, this is Elvira saying unpleasant dreams.
Real Panda 7,625
Its 2025 already!? I wasnt able to put my horror reviews for the movies I watched Nov-Dec 2024. From My Personal Best to Worst: Terrifier 3 They really went all-out with the story and the practical special effects. Smile 2 I loved most of it. I thought the ending couldve been better. Heretic I loved watching this movie and was on the edge of my seat throughout but I thought it was a missed opportunity to make "something" more elaborate. F Marry Kill A whodunnit/murder-mystery, I was expecting it to be bad and something I could watch on a boring night but its actually pretty decent/good. Time Cut A complete waste of time. If you want to watch a murder-mystery, serial killer story with time travel watch the movie Totally Killer. This rip-off contains more unnecessary personal drama and incorrect understanding of time travel. So the sister travels back in time to save her sister from being murdered, side note, the sisters are like 20 years apart from the same parents. Thats a huge gap from Child 1 and Child 2, maybe it does happen in real life but I just found it weird. I would understand if its a different mom/dad but both the same parents. Realistically, if there are siblings who are 20 years apart, there is another sibling or a few other siblings between them. Maybe I'm wrong and overthinking it. There's also stabbing, poorly done in ridiculous scenes.
Plastic Flower 3,860
My favorite movies from 2024 were: Smile 2 Terrifier 3 (this one being my #1) Longlegs The Substance Nosferatu premiered January 1st here so it’ll go to my 2025 list. I just watched it with my parents AND I LOVED IT. I didn’t find it boring and my god the execution is amazing. Nice way to start the year for me.
