Economy

At this point I don't know if these are really misguided extremists that do not understand this only backfires...

Or if anti fossil fuel transition are behind this to make the movement look bad (but without the ppl doing the dirty work as pawns realizing it)

lots of ppl are guessing the 2nd theory you mentioned because Just Stop Oil is actually funded by an oil Heiress...which seems weird / sketchy AF. I think she is from the Getty family.

You are referring to Aileen Getty, who has no current ties to the oil industry. No one has made money from fossil fuels in her family for decades. She uses her inherited wealth, accumulated from her families now defunct oil company, to combat climate change. Which is exactly what we want people in her position to do.

Here is the article she wrote for The Guardian explaining why she funds and supports environmental activists:

Controversiaga

at this point , its just strange that museums don't have stronger security to prevent these protests, given the amount that have been happening over the past few months..... makes me wonder what's going on

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

I don’t think this is the smartest way to grab attention.

Negative publicity is still publicity but it doesn’t go well if you are trying to promote your advocacy   :huntyga:

I think instead of pouring tomato soup, they should tape up pictures of the energy they want. Like tape a wind turbine on the glass or a hydrogen power plant or fission or desalinization or whatever they think needs to replace oil.

Mte.  More security seems warranted.  When I visited the Rijksmuseum long ago, Rembrandt's painting The Night Watch was is a room by itself and there were two security guards in the room for that one painting.  Impressive.  And there were no activists attacking paintings in those days.

I live outside the space time continuum.
