I think lyrically she is incredible, and that’s where her strength is. Haven’t listened to the album properly yet but her lyrics do pop out.

ma'am this happens in fandoms of other genres as well. Given that your username is metalguru, you should be aware that sections of the online metal community are notoriously immature to other artists and music acts (never forget the infamous meltdowns when Eddie from Iron Maiden praised BabyMetal. some of the most racist comments against Asians I've seen on the internet were produced by those fans).

People just lack inhibitions online and think they can say whatever they want to say under the guise of anonymity, when in reality, there are consequences they can face.

The production is sooooo dated and bottom of the barrel, vocals as usual nothing special...literally not a single song that sounds like a hit in sight but I'm sure theres a couple I'll be forced to believe that are by all those bought streams.

Wait. You think Bowie didn't shift genres?? He was the king of that. He had entire eras (before they were called that) with entirely different personas (The Thin White Duke, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane) and totally different music styles to go along with it. Dylan changed the world when he went electric. Like, totally changed the world. He's also done blues albums. Religious albums. Bruce went from the pure folk of Nebraska to the arena rock of Born in the USA. They sound like two different artists wrote those albums. 

I understand what you're trying to say. But maybe use different examples?

I think its on par or slightly better than Lover. Anti Hero is my fave but I don‘t think that it will be an organic hit with the GP. Folklore and Evermore remain superior

I feel like midnight feels it has a little bit of everything from her previous albums. At first listen I thought it was an okay, but after many listens this album feels amazing. Songs like Maroon, Hight Infidelity, Anti-Hero, Dear Reader, Your're On Your Own, Kid, Would've Could've Should've have such storytelling you may or may not relate too.

I think Taylor Swift is fine, I really enjoyed Folklore & Evermore (which has some of her best work- lovely lyricism & storytelling like cmon), I think Red & 1989 are great albums, & Reputation has some fun bops, as does Lover. 

This album was very underwhelming!

I don't feel that the it's very engaging? it's very monotone, boring honestly. Lyrically it's some of her weakest work?? I'm honestly so surprised this is the same person who wrote August, State of Grace, Wildest Dreams, The Archer, & Champagne Problems? The production's very uninteresting, imo. It's not that dynamic and sure it's a cohesive sound overall, I just find it hard to differentiate songs from one another. Lavender Haze, Question, & Labyrinth were the only stand outs to me. I wanted to like Karma, but the lyrics feel so beneath her? idk I'm just tired of her singing about her boyfriend, if I want to hear that I'll listen to Reputation. 

And I think overall that's the main issue, it all just feels the same. And not relatable. 

I actually liked some of the 3am tracks better than the ones on the standard edition...

Why is it getting such unanimous praise?? When it truly is just not that great! I feel like the critics are gastlighting us lmao
