Meh, I don't really care tbh. Being a vocalist is great but my fave literally lipsynced his way through the late 80s and 90s...for health reasons but still

And nothing of value was lost :poot:

Like, I'd understand if/when someone legendaric would say this and the severity or the impact of that statement it might caused.

But from Carrie Underwood? It's like so whatever. Life goes on, mayne! :billie:

Personally, if I'm paying to see a show, I'd rather the artist sing live. :trollga:

Everyone has their reasons though.

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

She's right... there are so many industry frauds in the past 20 years I have lost count... If you cant sing live you dont get to call yourself a "singer" period. Let the people with real talent shine.

Not me thinking that the titles meant that there’s a list of self proclaimed singers who can’t sing live who lost respect for Carrie Underwood.

I have this unpopular opinion that some mediocre singers still deserve a lot of respect

Vocals are not the only talent that matters unless ur Adele standing with a Mike

Some so-so singers like JLo or Britney Spears for example can still put on a hell of a show and they deserve to be able to showcase that talent even if they aren't Whitney Houston's vocally speaking

Some are great vocalists, others great dancers others a great overall package. There's room for everyone. There's ppl who sing less well than Ms. Underwood id still be more excited to see live just saying :coffee:

Drop keys? Well because some get older and their voice changes…or, frankly, tour more rigorously than ms thing does. These big names are putting on PRODUCTIONS. Carrie is a big name but she’s not doing a Madonna show or a Beyoncé show. Whose gonna say they lose respect for Bey for changing love on top live? Cmon girl

Okay lip syncing is one thing but judging key changes while still singing live is just being nit picky cmon now

You better be able to sing exactly like you do now Carrie in 20 years for you to be talking all this sh*t

Lip syncing is fine as long as it's advertised as such - which it never is.

Acting like you're singing live is not only deceiving the audience, it sets an unfair standard for artist who do sing live.

She isn't talking about artists lip syncing though, she's talking about artists that drop keys of songs live. Which Gaga and pretty much every touring musician frequently do so their voices don't get shredded by the age of 30.

I see people dragging Mariah for this.

She should get a free pass. She earned her stars already.

In my messy era.

I don't mind lowering the keys. You record the music in a key that will give the listener the most dynamic experience. When performing live, you might need to make adjustments so that you can sing your setlist multiple times a week without fatigue.

As for the lip-syncing, I have to agree. As an audience member, I've no use for artists who can't/won't sing their songs live.
