ARTPOP is a concept album, I did an analysis of the album storyline that ties the songs together some years ago, I can find it again if anyone is interested.

Ziggy Stardust should have been #1

Ziggy is absolutely one of the greatest concept albums in history. God I miss Bowie.

Exile in Guyville is sooooo incredibly good, Liz Phair is so underrated

It really is one of the best indie rock albums of all time. Discovered her in high school and fell madly in love with her and that album.

The term concept album is to loose and subjective.

There are albums that tell a story throughout like Janelle Monaes The AarchAndroid, which gives details in the songs and interludes about the overall theme. You don’t need to be told outside the album. Then there are albums where the concept is told externally, and hearing the album without any context, you wouldn’t be able to find the concept. Midnights comes to mind (don’t kill me I like it) “this album tells the story about 13 sleepless midnights” is what ultimately ties it together, but hey, it works!

I think what Gaga is best at is not being afraid of is creating albums with a general concept and theme, but she’s excellent at exploring them, vomiting out in whatever comes out.

Wow no Vulnicura?! Also surprised The Bedlam in Goliath by The Mars Volta isn't on there since it's regarded as one of the best progressive rock albums of all time.

Jesus Christ, Gaga does not have any concept albums yet. She's a typical art student in how she connects everything after the fact. Vague themes of addiction, sex, fear, etc do not make concept albums. You guys are desperate.

Vulnicura is a breakup album, not a concept album. Like what's the concept of these examples? What's the story?

Bitterness aside, that's true: I think Chromatica comes close to being a concept album because of the sections and transitions but true concept albums are something else. Like what Alice Cooper and David Bowie did back in the 70s

Bedlam is a story about messages from a ouija board. The album came with a planchette that played Bonus tracks
