"Concept album" doesn't just mean "album that has a concept" though, I think that's why it's confusing to some people. All of Gaga's albums have an individual concept and theme that ties that specific project together, but usually the actual subject matter of her albums is quite varied. For example, ARTPOP is conceptually about art and pop existing together, but the album also has songs about drug use, assault, female empowerment etc, and it isn't structured in a way that tells a linear story. The concepts of her albums tend to be more umbrella concepts that house lots of her different ideas. Born This Way's concept is social justice and self-love, but it also has songs about her grandfather's death, her relationship with Luc etc, but I will say that a lot of Gaga's albums are very close to being considered a "concept album", at least in the traditional sense of what the term meant. palma 7,779
istg call me an ignorant f slur but I'm so tired of seeing Pink Floyd in these lists it does nothing but pandering on 50+ guys and try hard teens I think the concept of making top 10 lists is very tired. 1000 albums you should listen before you die? Sure, tell me and maybe I will but this kind of listing is very subjective and does not spark any interest in me to check any of these albums Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

Came here looking for this. The Archandroid is probably the best concept album I've ever heard, so clever and well produced. It's insane. androiduser 7,438
"concept albums" were always innovative and special so fans/artists/critics now want to pin the term to any album they like... A great example of a concept album is Bowie's "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars". Fans can cry all they want, Gaga's albums are not concept albums. Having an idea behind the music does not immediately mean the end product is a concept album. But most fans know that the term "concept album" is something fancy and admirable, so suddenly everything and anything is a concept album.
