It's fine not to do the performing if u don't feel like it but don't use it as a way to extort an award... I mean yes I see what you mean but I still think it’s fair game for her to do that. Would I do it? Definitely not because I’m more of a “it’s important that I was even nominated” kind of person but I don’t even blame her after what happened to Gaga at the Grammy’s in 2011 where she was basically only used for promo without any wins. They never missed an opportunity to put her on screen but they didn’t award her best album.

U basically allow the Grammys to be a popularity contest where bigger name artists exert more power I wouldn't view it on the same low level if it was for the VMAs or People's choice awards because those awards are by nature largely popularity contests anyway. It doesn't make it ok still and I'd still look down on it and kinda low-key dirty, but I find it even worse for the Grammys since the Grammys are supposed to be about quality and critical acclaim and being popular in itself shouldn't make u win hence why sometimes big names loose to smaller ones (ex: Justin Bieber loosing to Esperanza) But at the end of the day I'm not judging Taylor cuz this is more of a claim than a fact at this point so without proof or her own admission I will give her the benefit of the doubt I'm talking about how badly I view the behaviour under a hypothetical scenario that she does in fact do this
StrawberryBlond 14,862
The only thing that makes me sceptical of this is that if it is a true thing, there must be many artists who do it. If they only win when they perform, that looks suspicious. And while the concept of "you'll only be invited to perform if you're going to win something" is nice in theory, if only performers are the winners, doesn't that not give away who the winners are to the public before the ceremony's even started? Particularly for artists with just one nomination? That's why the performers are a mix if winners and non-winners because you should have no indication of the winners before the award's presented. Wolf Boy 3,246
Meh, makes sense. If they want her, give her a reason to be there. I imagine many other acts do the same.
