because female leads in superhero flop hard most of the time.

Joker (Phoenix version) is everything but a superhero movie

If we know one thing about Gaga it is that she ever since she was a little girl always dreamed of becoming a super hero herself as she read comic book after comic book.

I hate this :sharon:

i'm actually really curious to see if she'll discuss superhero movies during her press tour

i mean, the most neutral answer would be a "i'm open to whatever" but it would be cool if she lowkey was a comic book nerd and actually knew her stuff

She'll for sure do research into Harley Quinn as a character and her several iterations.

I do wonder if it'll be a classic Harley getting abused and being in love with her abuser? Or if it'll be a newer age boss bitch but Joker will chill out with all the...idk, domestic violence, I guess :selena:

This is kind of what I was expecting (and hoping for) based on the tidbits we had gotten so far so yasss :sis: I think telling it from Harley's perspective is a good way of furthering Joker's development into an unquestionable and irredeemable villain while still having a protagonist you can empathize with, and of keeping the character somewhat mysterious.

Because the title of the movie refers to shared delusional disorder I have a feeling the dynamic will be less of a Stockholm Syndrome type where she falls in love with him in spite of his abuse and more in the vein of two people who are almost equally delusional/mentally unwell falling in love with each other and feeding each other's unhealthy tendencies (specially because pairing the original domestic violence angle with romantic musical scenes would most likely be perceived as tasteless and get the movie dragged tbh).

Fun Fact: The K in KPop stands for "Kate Bush"

Good points tbh. Plus, nothing in the first movie suggests that Arthur would be the domestically abusive type to me? I mean, he killed that lady and her kid but that was as his delusions were wearing off and he saw his life for what it actually was...then he killed more people :laughga:

That's exactly what I thought! Won't bother to look up my old comment but yes, I like this idea of the musical element being their own little crazy fantasy world.

Hope Gaga has more interesting scenes this time, they often give her more oneliners, small bursts instead of good monologues or dynamic dialogue. The onliners are iconic, but I would love to hear her speak more.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

I heard she is currently drawing her third volume of her 5 piece graphic novel series about Harlequins dentists Highschool years and how they relate to her own story. Fans saw her with a notebook trough the windows of her tour bus. :iamfair:

Yeah, on the first one he's kinda portrayed as a timid person with no social skills (specially as far as interacting and flirting with women goes), so going from that to the conniving, seductive Joker of the comics so fast wouldn't really fit.

The neighbor? She's still alive iirc! While reading up on the first one I found out that they shot a scene showing her at home watching Joker on TV killing DeNiro's character (or the aftermath of that, not sure), but they thought it would break the trend of having the entire movie follow Joker's perspective so that ended up being deleted from the film.

Im a feminist dont get me wrong but if u gonna talk about Harley being in love with the Joker u cant have the perspective of feminism, but lately some films are so preachy that they do stupid things like this. Harley at first, in her obsessed Joker era she's the antithesis of "feminism" or "independent" woman. She lives for him, dies for him, cries about him, serves him and would neglect herself to please him. I just want it for once to see it in a movie to be depicted that way and not have to deal with a forced transformation because of this need to "preach". We get it, being that way isn't good, but show it anyway, it's fiction it's interesting & to me the most entertaining part of the Joker & Harley rship

I think he should be. It's the Joker, a villain. I really hate how we in this era of not wanting to show "problematic" people. They are not people, they are fictional characters, I wanna see Arthur being abusive, and messed up. That's who he is. Batman is the hero, Joker the villain, a Joker who's kind is not a Joker :laughga:
