So the rest of the Europeans have to starve and freeze because that's the only way? Do you understand what you are writing? Reduced purchasing power directly affects hundreds of thousands of jobs, reduced business turnover results in layoffs in all economic sectors. Should I watch my mother or child starve, in order not to be pro-Russian? The reality is that Russian gas drives Europe's economy. Who is to blame for that? Ordinary man not for sure. The same people who are now urging us to tighten our belts, turn off the heating, eat and travel as little as possible are to blame. They don't feel the consequences. They are tucked away in the millions, they own a couple of mansions, airplanes, and a fleet of vehicles. They think they are untouchable. The people on the street will show them that they are not. My life and the life of my family is above everything else. Even if it costs me my life, I will fight for them. Nobody is going to “starve and freeze”, your electricity bill is just going up. It’s a tiny price to pay for the lives of Ukrainian people. If Ukraine hadn’t fought as hard as it did, and if the EU hadn’t supported it, Russia would’ve already taken over the country and would’ve probably been trying to get into Moldova and/or Romania and/or Poland and/or Latvia. Most of those are either EU or NATO states, and if they got involved, your electricity bill would be the least of your concerns. Also, if you continue to buy Russian gas because it “drives Europe's economy” now and continue to give Russia money, sooner or later, it will start another war. You are being stupid and selfish by not realizing that. Edit: I just realized that you made this account a month ago and most of your post have been defending Russia. Banned. BornAsUnic0rn 2,249
Same thing is expected in Germany starting tomorrow. The right and the left uniting for a „Heißer Herbst“ („hot autum“ as in heated atmosphere). The next few months will get really interesting in Europe. You mean far right and left, or actual center right and left? Because if it's the latter, that's terrible. We all know the far right and left are idiots. How about no. Europe is way more powerful than that. Generations many centuries back survived worse things. Nobody is starving, this is just a temporary effect of our continent being too dependant on a country who doesn't share our values. This is only a direct blowback to European economies since we cut the "rubber band" way too fast. It will all balance itself out, as everything else in life, as Europe tries find alternate ways to supply itself with the energy it needs. Stop with the fear mongering. I‘m a little worried Europe could lose stamina these next few months. In Germany the center is pretty much in unity especially when dealing with a crisis. Also I find it pretty hard to put these center parties in „left/right“ categories since all of them have more progressive and more conservative views depending on the topic.
