There’s a divide between fans who stanned at the start and those that stanned during then. A really interesting one, “veteran fans” (08/09/10) all seem to highly rate Chromatica as it’s reminiscent of TF/TFM Gaga but a lot of the 12/13/14 intake don’t like it. Fans that joined around Joanne/ASIB are cool. I think they fall into the veteran or new labels as they explore her back catalogue. As someone who started stanning in 2013 I can say Chromatica didn’t do much for me so your statement makes sense but I don’t get the logic. I’d definitely count BTW / ARTPOP and the eras as more closely related to earlier work (TF/TFM) than anything from 2015 onward. Although again I did start stanning in 2013 so I guess I can never truly say how 2012/2013/2014 compares to 2009/2010/2011.

Yeah I’m not sure why, it’s just an observation I’ve made that the old stans like Chromatica but the “new” ones didn’t take to it. Weird but noticeable! The Fame Monster 3,892
All of us, because we all started to stan after 2008. Papa Joe and Mama Cynthia started to stan way before that. Find your freedom in the music

HiddenWeirdo 4,268
Awww this makes me remember about the times when I stanned PCD and read in the album credits that a "Lady GaGa" co-wrote their song Elevator. Weeks after that Just Dance came out and I burned the PCD stan card.

TheBadRomancer 949
I really hate the superiority complex that comes from people who have liked her longer. I don’t get why we can’t be excited that there does continue to be new fans.
Enigma 7,182
I guess you'd have to make tiers that'd look something like this: Pre-TFM > TFM > BTW/ARTPOP > Joanne and further If you became a fan during TFM, that means you most likely immediately became a fan when you first heard of her (when she became mainstream) If you became a fan during BTW/ARTPOP, I feel like that means either of those projects finally caught your eye (or her persona at the time, since it changed so much between eras). Like, at this point in time, no one simply didn't know Lady Gaga, she had been everywhere for a couple years. For instance I became a fan during ARTPOP because prior to that I was like 8 years old and although I liked her songs, I thought she was too offensive And then if you became a fan during Joanne or later, it's probably because the pop persona wasn't your thing and the more laid back sound/persona (or acting) appeal to you

So I guess my question is personally when is someone regarded as a “new fan” and when is some regarded as an older one? Because Id like to consider myself an older fan since I’ve been here since ARTPOP (9 years ago). But a lot of people don’t count those who weren’t here during TF/TFM as older fans I'd consider a new fan anyone who joined during Joanne, or potentially ASIB. In a few album cycles it would pick up from Chromatica (did Gaga even get new fans from Chromatica tho ...? )
LaFama 4,363
I’d say anyone who became a fan during ASIB could be on the “new” category, but that era is about 4 years now, so maybe the Chromatica era might be more fitting. Honestly I’m kinda jealous of new fans, I’ve been a monster since Just Dance came out and of course I loved witnessing every move, but I remember becoming a Madonna fan around the same time (you can imagine how traumatizing that was 😭), and it was so amazing discovering every album, watching her videos, interviews, tours, the impact that she had with every era, I was discovering a new world and finding inspiration. So I think new monsters might be doing the same, watching everything with fresh eyes for the first time is a great experience, it’s like discovering a missing part of history lol. I love that I got the chance to live through it all, but there’s also some kind of magic in descovering someone’s art even if you missed it while it was happening (and no, that doesn’t make you less of fan).
