With the latest sales update from Chartmasters, Gaga’s debut album surpasses Madonna’s “True Blue” and becomes the 9th best selling female album of all time 

Here’s the full top 10:

Now time for some statistics 

• Lady Gaga and Adele are the only 21st century artists on the list.

• “The Fame Monster” is currently the fastest growing album on that entire list in terms of streaming. That is something that will keep helping it accumulate more units each year.

Yes, it’s the deluxe album. Every country’s charts count them as the same album. Even Billboard.

“The Fame” is the parent album. “The Fame Monster” is the reissue of that same album that includes 8 new songs. It all counts as one album, like every other deluxe album out there. Almost every artist has one of these. The only difference is that Gaga’s reissue was so successful that it appears like a whole new album on its own.

really happy about this, but it is weird that two albums are counted as one? Is the 1 disc version (just the new songs) counted as well?

The deluxe version is counted. The one that has 23 songs.

They each have separate numbers but they’re usually combined

Yes. For instance, The Fame Monster debuted at #5 the week it came out because that only counted the EP, but that same week The Fame rose to #2 because that includes The Fame + Monster (23 song deluxe)
