RAMROD 117,063
For the first time in nearly 40 years, health officials in the U.K. have identified a likely outbreak of polio in London. So far, there have been no cases of polio detected directly in the U.K. But instead, scientists have discovered the outbreak through an indirect route. They've found multiple versions of the virus in sewage water, the U.K. Health Security Agency said Wednesday in a press release. Between February and May, U.K. scientists found several samples containing closely related versions of the virus in wastewater at the London Beckton Sewage Treatment Works – the largest water treatment plant in the U.K. The viruses' genetic sequences suggest "there has been some spread between closely linked individuals in north and east London," the UKHSA said. Children ages 1-9 in London were made eligible for booster doses of a polio vaccine Wednesday after British health authorities reported finding evidence the virus has spread in multiple areas of the city but found no cases of the paralytic disease in people. Britain's Health Security Agency said it detected viruses derived from the oral polio vaccine in the sewage water of eight London boroughs. The agency's analysis of the virus samples suggested "transmission has gone beyond a close network of a few individuals." The agency said it had not located anyone infected with the virus and that the risk to the wider population was low. The decision to offer young children boosters was a precaution, it said. The agency said it is also expanding surveillance of sewage water to at least another 25 sites in London and nationally. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2022/06/22/1106711204/polio-found-in-u-k-for-the-first-time-in-nearly-40-years-heres-what-it-means https://www.npr.org/2022/08/10/1116749510/polio-london-children-vaccine-booster (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

Just like is, those little lives needs their way to adapt and survive. And we better be prepared because we have no idea about how many other virus, bacterias and organisms are about to come out from the melting ice. HayThurJack 374
It’s cause a lot of children during COVID didn’t get their boosters cause the parents were afraid to leave their homes. London is also a gigantic melting pot of people from all over the world. A few of these are detected each year in U.K. At the moment this doesn’t seem like too big of an issue because most of the country is vaccinated, but would be a risk for those populations within U.K. that have low vaccination rates (assuming it got out of hand)

Gaijin 444
Sorry, but all of this is down to really stupid parents who don’t vaccinate their kids or themselves. I’ve said for a while that Polio will come back, and a whole new generation of people will end up disabled because of it…. This is one of those times I really hoped I would be wrong. My grandmother told me how terrible it was, and how many/all of the parents wished they could vaccinate their kids against it… *sigh* 珈琲ちょうだい
