I mean... I don't personally think it's worth thinking about the "what ifs" because it's just not gonna happen. Israel is backed by the NATO, they can basically do whatever the f*ck they want. There will be no displaced Jewish people, but there will be millions of further displaced Palestinians, who have no other choice but to leave their homes and flee to neighboring Arab countries, where they're met with a lot of disdain as well.

The long term prospect of this will really just be further territorial expansion of Israel, displacement of native Palestinian people, more refugees, more resentment, more terrorism, more violent strikes etc.

The spiral could be VERY easily broken by just... Isreal recognizing native Palestinians, giving them citizenship and equal rights and coming to together as a pluralist, democratic society. But the chance flew out the window in 2018 and when Israel declared itself to be a Jewish ethnostate by law.

Backed by Nato?

Defense alliances in charge of democracy, human rights and freedoms?

Not possible.

I agree with you. They treat non jews and non israelis inequally compared to israelis and jews. The Ethiopians are treated terribly along for example here, they don't get to make a family here. They made Israel a purely jewish (and religious country). Not to mention although it seems to be LGBTQ+ friendly, same-sex marriage is not allowed.

We (me and my classmates) have also been educated on the racism that is ongoing in Israel.

I wish Israel could give the deserved rights to the native Palestinians that live here, They're innocent and I am tired of seeing news of more and more people getting killed. I promise Israel does not represent the people living here

A simple fact for you: every single arab country, every one of them without exception declares itself a muslim state in the constitution, including Palestine. Are they ethnostates too? Because you seem to confuse state religion with ethnostate. Israel being a jewish state does not prohibit granting citizenship to non-Jews, just like arab countries having Islam as state religion doesn't prohibit giving non-muslims citizenship. Any person regardless of religion can apply for Israeli citizenship if they lived in the country for at least three years.

So much misinformation and poor understanding of the situation in this thread. Everyone rushing to demonize the other side with loaded words that they don't even understand the meaning of because it's just easier to spread hate and misinformation.

you are amazing and ppl like you give me hope that there could hopefully maybe one day be a solution to this mess but tbh it is hard to see a peaceful future there now. It looks like the ultimate ending to all of this will be that Israel annexes all of the West Bank while making the lives of the Palestinians there a living hell and continuously bombing Gaza to smithereens because Gaza cannot be annexed unlike the West Bank.

It's 2022. After fleeing Hitler the jews that settled in Palestine are now 75+ year olds and have children and grand children born on that land and didn't know any other home. Your solution is to mass displace millions and abolish an entire state?
People seem to have lost their sanity, casually advocating for genocide while pretending to be moralist. If you advocate for anything other than a two state solution, you're a radical who believes in a form of genocide, as simple as that. You can read the U.N definition of it. So you should be careful with what you advocate for.

Literally nobody is calling for genocide in this thread, Jesus Christ, it’s like you’re purposely acting obtuse just for the sake of it :ladyhaha:

I am a believer in a two state solution, because both people have a rightful claim to the land. I am not the poster here who's openly calling for the abolition of an entire state and the mass displacement of its entire population (I'll say it again, textbook definition of genocide according to international law).

Again, Israel doesn't share your sentiment and that's why it is impossible, so stop with the victim blaming.

Palestine was clearly okey with sharing their land with the Jews and what did they do in return? Exactly. Palestine is not the aggressor, Israel is. It is like saying Ukraine is not allowed to defend itself because of international law. Please. If the west doesn't want to help Palestine then I am all for them defending their country and honor which has brutaly been taken away from them.

What is your source for this?

I must have misspoken since it was a British colony at the time, so it was more or less the Brits who were okey with accepting them into Palestine. However, it doesn't change what Israel is doing and have done for decades.

I’m not up to date with the situation. So Israel is now bombing the Gaza Strip and the Gaza Strip is bombing Israel in retaliation?

Palestine was okay sharing the land? Why did they reject the U.N plan to split it then?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Partition_Plan_for_Palestine

If that plan was adopted back then, it could've saved a LOT of lives on both sides.

This thread just proves how bad some of the mods are on this site

boring and tiring at this point.

Maybe political threads should just be banned rather then allowing false information to run rampant.

There is a report button, use it.

We as mods shouldn’t interfere with a discussion unless it’s breaking very serious rules, using our power to do so is against the mod etiquette.

In the mean time, calling out other users in public, instead of discussing properly / reporting them / moving on, is against the rule.

The Palestinian humanitarian situation is a subject that we must deal with a lot if care because there are a lot of Palestinian users in our forum, so reporting posts is the answer.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I stoped doing that as goes on deaf ears/the mod isn’t clued up on the issue so ‘both sides’ it, unfortunately happens a lot with false information in political threads.. which this thread is ripe with.

Yeh that’s fine,I don’t mind a warning or 2 for calling out false information 🥰

Agreed on the last point, the posts in question in here are VERY obvious as 90% of users are calling it out as false information and clearly pulling the convo away from the subject.

If you want to call out "false information", please do so politely while providing sources to show that the information is false. But saying that an information you don't like is "false" doesn't make it false, unless you provide evidence for it.
