The European Union has transformed my country. Thanks EU, babe! They are trying to be friendly with the Western nations they think have the biggest potential to join their cause (Ireland, Catalonia, Basque Country, Wales etc). Russia is basically funding two Irish Parlamentaries to showcase Russia's ideas in the EU Parlament, so in a way with Ireland being anti-UK, they managed to find *some* fertile ground there.. To think that the original way it was before any conquest and the oldest ancestors u have to that region is what somehow belongs to you is deluded. It has no relevance anymore It's different if ur land was stollen in the last 100-200 years and ur grandparents have stories of their grandparents and stuff and how it affected ur family etc even some generations back. Like Natives in North America that as early as last century were still being abused with things like residential schools But there does come a point in time when it happens so long ago that it just isn't relevant to you anymore point blank. It's not some independence right you have because 20 generations ago some ancestors you never heard of so far removed got screwed. Like Natives in North America that as early as last century were still being abused with things like residential schools I'm in my early 20s and my granpa was alive to see this partition-> His father (my great grandparent) enrolled and took part in the liberation of Bessarabia but when he got to Odesa he deserted and bought a horse from someone to come back home. But then he had to fight in the West against the Nazis and got as far as the Tatra Mountains.
