Beyonce uses s-word it in her new song 'Heated'

Last month Lizzo released her song “Grrrls”. In the opening verse she used this word, which is considered a derogatory term for spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. The song was almost immediately criticised by  the disabled community, with tweets and TikToks explaining the history and offensive nature of the term.

Lizzo has removed an offensive term from her track, saying she “never wanted to promote derogatory language”.
“This is the result of me listening and taking action,” she wrote in her statement . “As an influential artist I’m dedicated to being part of the change I’ve been waiting to see in the world.”

She should've known better after Lizzo, even though it has a different meaning in US vs GB...

Wow I didn't know Lizzo removed it, did she change it with another word or removed the whole song?

I'm on the side of the people calling out specific language 90% of the time, but I'm having trouble with this one. Mostly because it means something different where I live. It feels like getting bothered at someone who uses the term "fanny pack" because in the UK "fanny" means a genital region.

Idk maybe I just needed some more education on this 🤷🏽‍♀️

At this rate, it's not any more a question of whether it's offensive or not.

People made a HUGE deal about it when Lizzo used the word in her song, so shouldn't they be more fumed now as Beyoncé is an even bigger artist? Or was it all performative?

(And I'm not advocating for people to "cancel" Beyoncé or whatever, not at all. I don't think she meant any harm whatsoever, but the double standard will just be absolutely apparent if no one at least calls her out for it.)

I’m pretty sure Beyonce must have recorded her song way before Lizzo though. She recorded Renaissance during the pandemic

See. People call me pressed for saying Beyonce is the most overrated artist and yet here she is, giving me reasons EVERY SINGLE DAY.

First the Kelis thing, now this and the album isn't even out 24 hours lmao.

Again;

Beyonce's the most basic artist ever.

the double standards…100% saw the backlash for lizzo but she’s qUeEn bEyOnCe so she doesn’t care and nor do her rabid stans and the tabloids are too scared to call her out

Allegedly -

People are saying that Beyonce was told about this lyric specifically and allegedly wanted to keep it in so the album could have a few more “news cycles” and the plan from the start was to eventually remove it after it was called out.

allegedly!

this album/era for her is so cringe and I hope she moves on quickly.
