chiuga 1,973
fashion is about life and society. Have people forgot that Vogue have had photoshoots with political themes and global issues? like plastic surgery, oil leakage, black issues, war on Iraq... who else is better than the Ukrainian presidential couple to be featured on this particular issue? He's wearing the same (or similar) outfit since the war started and his wife is keeping the fashion simple too in the shoot. it's not like they are dressed like flamingos or trying to advertise for big brands. and they have apparently done something right to get people talking

I don't care about Vogue, they could've been doing this for 5 thousand years and I would still consider it highly insensitive on their and also on Olena's part. There are many other ways of raising awareness which seem much more moral and not...posing in cute clothes with some fake soldiers while the people in her country are losing their homes, dying, getting bombarded on a daily basis. I am sorry but if you are defending this then there must be something wrong with your moral compass. Excusing this behaviour by saying 'they were always political' is no excuse. This is simply wrong and out of place. And I am also speaking as someone who lives VERY close to the borders of Ukraine and I see what's going on there and how terrified people are and devastating the situation for them is. But sure, let's defend the insensitivity of Vogue by excusing them.
Head Empty 26,963
Doing a photoshoot to raise awareness is fine, but by treating it as a fashion shoot it looks like a vanity project instead of a political statement. Then again, by making the photoshoot controversial it will draw more attention, thus achieving their goal.
