'Gremlins' director says Baby Yoda was 'completely stolen' from his film

Joe Dante, the director of the 1984’s Gremlins, believes that the Baby Yoda was 'completely stolen' and copied from his Gizmo character.
Dante made it clear that he isn't seeking any sort of legal action against the Disney-owned LucasFilm
“I think the longevity of [Gremlins] is really key to this one character, who is essentially like a baby,” Dante told the San Francisco Chronicle in a new interview. “Which brings me, of course, to the subject of Baby Yoda, who is completely stolen and is just out-and-out copied. Shamelessly, I would think.”

I mean. I think they resemble one another, but BabyYoda just looks like a baby version of Yoda. The only thing is the larger ears, but plenty of living things grow into their ears as they matureand it's one of the major features that give it the cute and cuddly draw.

There’s a vague resemblance in the silhouette, I think that’s about where the similarities end

It's not a rip off, but just the same idea of a cute kinda awkward little thing with big ears. It's like the French bulldog of sci fi monsters.
