Massive Internet Outage In Canada Disconnects 1/4 Of Nation, 911 Affected

1/4 of Canada's internet service is currently down Nationwide as Telecom and Internet Giant Rogers is experiencing a near total outage. Their child companies Fido and Chatr are also affected

 

Many debit and credit transaction services are down at businesses and many people are struggling to get thru to essential services such as 911

Mobile data also appears to be strained as my home internet is also down so I have been using phone data all day and it is slower than normal so a lot of other people must be doing the same

omg what a nightmare 

the other day we were without electricity in several states and we didn't have internet OR phone data, i seriously felt like i was about to lose my mind, it went on for almost 1 hour. 

this is serious, don't take things for granted. 

governments all around the world needs to get their *** together and plan in advance now!

Don't think so. If anything anyone disconnected can't put in a sell order

 

Also Canada is only the 10th largest economy. Not sure a temporary internet outage here would have much of any impact on a crypto market

 

Edit: I also love how I'm mentioning 911 struggles and ur concern is crypto  (I'm not judging tho cuz I'm primarily pissed I can't stream videos rn as my limited phone data would get eaten up in no time )

1 hour? This outage has been going on since 6am today so 8 hours now

 

My Netflix and YouTube on tv weren't working and I was getting pissed lol. I kept restarting my internet and it still wasn't working so I been on my phone on data ever since

 

I just came across this article and I'm like... Ok that explains why my internet isn't working lol

Same, so annoying! All my home stuff has been down all day, luckily I’m not on Rogers mobile, but it’s still been struggling 

I had a bunch of errands to run too and everywhere is taking cash only so I had to just give up, I’m pissed

On the bright side I been doing home chores on an off I been putting off like laundry and dishes

 

However I wanna go to gym soon and I'm worried my music streaming is gonna keep getting cut cuz I cannot workout without music and reception is already weak in the gym building for some reason as it is.

 

I can never play videos in there and article sites take long to load but music usually still works. I'm wondering with with a strained data even music won't

I have a genuine mild fear that one day a very severe solar flare will just wipe out our electric grid and electronics. It's a very rare occurrence to get one so severe that it would do that but it did occur a few hundreds of years ago. Even some type writers were affected and papers burned

 

Societies dependence on stuff that was affected by it was very limited at the time and so there was no chaos caused by it. But now in this day and age were so dependant on technology.

 

Should a prolonged outage of technology occur globally were legit looking at a post apocalyptic world
