No word on the album date, but the single does come out July 7th. It seems like these posters with the tracklist have appeared throughout various cities!!

So I love "Somebody Else" and "Love It If We Made It", maybe a few other tracks. But sometimes their music is too...bubblegum? Idk some of the songs are corny. But I love Matty and his journey through sobriety has been inspiring.

Just wondering why every album starts with the instrumental track "The 1975"? Or if you can tune me into more of the themes within the band itself?

The 1975 (track) is their intro on every single one of their albums. The track is the same lyrically, but differs in sound/melody to reflect the production/sonic choices of the album it's on. It's like their thesis.

For me, their last album was a total let down, but I really enjoy "If You're Too Shy". All of their albums, I have loved almost every single song. If you're looking for their most "mature" album, I'd point you in the direction of A Brief Inquiry To Online Relationships.

Thank you dear  makes total sense. My musician friend is obsessed and loves all their production. I'll have to dive into their discography more. What made their last album not so good in your opinion?

Nice to see a shorter project this time around, there were a lot of gems in the last album but it all got kind of lost and swallowed up in itself in just how many tracks there were overall.

So happy for new 1975 though, they know how to write some instant classics

I am not a fan of albums that are 1) not cohesive 2) bloated with too many tracks. Unfortunately, the album does fall into both of those territories.

The sonics on their last project was just all over the place (80s synth, grunge rock, house tracks, ambient). Also, I do feel like there was a dip in quality.

I agree, their last album was too much of a mixed bag for me. especially after their best work yet, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships is such a mature, fantastic piece of work. I re-listened yesterday while making dinner and forgot how nearly every song is still so damn good.

i'm SO excited for new music from them, hopefully something in a new direction?

what if Charli was anywhere on it lmaoooo

I agree 100%.

I will say, their self-titled is still my favorite album of theirs. They've definitely grown since their debut record, but that record has such a recognizable sound (and is incredibly nostalgic).

I hope they continue to lean into the 80s synth-pop they do so well, or even the more jazzier-pop records (If I Believe You). Also Charli is dating one of the members (and he did some production on the bonus tracks of CRASH), so who knows :bon:

Lorde is a rumored collaborator though!!
