ThisGuyTony 30,727
“For the skit, Gomez and Villaseñor, who are both Mexican-American, wore plaid long-sleeve shirts, white tank tops, beige chino pants, black grommet belts, hoop earrings and had their hair teased, and wore noticeable makeup. Both spoke with thick accents and welcomed guests on the show to talk about books and rap music… Others, however, called the skit everything from “embarrassing” to “distasteful” to “racist as f—k.” Many wondered why SNL had to go straight for the stereotypes just because they had a Latine host.”
Bonkers 29,573
Stereotypes have been a main form of comedy in every culture since comedy began. It's nice to evolve out of a harmful form of comedy, but .... i ran out of steam making a conclusion that won't offend people or is too meaningless to make a point. NFRatwell 23,290
I love how a random site can cite tweets with 10 retweets and be like “wow look at all the fans that are offended” and then that information can be brought on another site and make it seem like a bigger deal than it actually is. Ashley 9,514
I can see how it would be mildly offensive since Selena is half white tbh.

beli8 1,434
I haven't watched it, but basically a remake of this? Lol Crazy how things have changed in a couple of decades. Most of MadTV skits would likely be considered inappropriate now.
Guest
Ive always laughed at skits that had stereotypes of my ethnicity, that's how it is with comedy u use that as jokes. Would be racist if it was to talk about something "negative" or paint groups as negative and u can feel that there was a bad intention behind it. Where is comedy going now
