Chromatica Island

I like it as much as Shallow, some of her best vocals! 9/10 for me. I liked the glitchy intro tbh.

Quite frankly, that’s what I’m kind of hoping for. I want to like it like I her other work, but respect it for what it is. I think having a visual and time will make or break the song.

I mean, it's a classic power ballad that plays it fairly safe (like most film songs). I love it, but I can understand why some don't because a lot of people on here are mostly into dance/electro pop with some rap and find Adele boring.

But..."safe" ballads like these tend to do pretty well (at least they did before the streaming revamps). The Tuesday release will hurt, but I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up a top 10 hit the following week once it has a full charting week.

I hope the next album will sounds like this with even more emotions and rawness. I love her ballets and this one is amazing, i love the 80s sound and i almost screamed “I CAN FEEL IT COMING IN THE AIR TONIGHT” after the drums kicked before the second chorus :tony:

now excuse me but i have to leave Before i..:fatcat:

This is a great movie theme!

Giving me a bit of My Heart Will Go On, a bit of The Greatest Showman…but of course very Gaga.

Any speculation this might be the collab Gaga was working on with Bloodpop years ago that everyone thought she would be a feature on?

The lyrics are so heartfelt and emotional, I think the song will be a standard for covers. Gaga’s fingerprints are all over it, but it’s still very timeless and classic! Powerful!!

Inspiration is one thing… that you become a vessel for an existing aura and turn it into something new and personal to you.

Being dated, on the other hand, is just you stuck with your determinations and cannot take yourself further ahead.

I almost think this is just too easy for Gaga, as if she is resistant (or lazy?) to challenge her own playbook.

Again, I see what you're saying. I don't think the song is anything super innovative or amazing, but I do like it. I'm just pointing out how I think it's kinda funny that that specific critique is now being used against the song when the same thing was used to defend the song's sound a couple of days ago.

Got ya! You are right -not every song needs to be innovative. I hope it lives up to hype and becomes a success for her.

the song is kind of contradictory in itself though, with its power ballad aspects. Like the vocals, to my opinion, are the victims of their own success.

Also, I wish she lean more into darker, quieter, ambientish, atmospheric sounds soon. It is always all about power vocals and neoclassis productions it gets predictable.

p.s. Yey Wanda! Big fan of her, especially when she is considered as Magneto’s daughter.

It had to be produced by Mark Ronson / RedOne / Garibay. :patrizia:

Maybe it’s a grower?  My problem with it on first listen is her vocals aren’t nuanced AT ALL throughout.  It’s one level and paint-by-numbers.  Meh.

I found the lyrics rather cheesy and uninspired and soundwise it's just your average movie ballad. This one's not for me unfortunately.

I was legitimately just going to write this

A lot of people are trying to compare this to Shallow, but I remember soooo many people disliking the song when it first came out, and then it became one of her biggest hits ever and people ~suddenly~ changed their mind on the song. They said that the structure was weird, that there's no "traditional chorus", that it wasn't "catchy enough", etc., etc.

I'm not saying that this song will be as big as Shallow. None of us know how well it's going to perform until we actually see it perform, but the comparison to Shallow is weird to see tbh.

I loved shallow the moment I saw the trailer and the first time I heard it in full I was blown away. In fact the majority of the ASIB soundtrack is some of her best work to date. So when Chromatica came out and I knew it was going to be a complete 180 I was hoping for unique production and vocals and was left completely underwhelmed and blamed myself for wanted something more like the fame monster or born this way.

I won’t say I’m disappointed with Hold My Hand but I am very deflated with it much like I felt with Chromatica. Honestly it feels like an idea from ASIB that they finished during the creation of Chromatica and instead of putting it on the album threw in a guitar and drums and slapped it on this project.

She sounds incredible!! Truly insane vocals but she is literally shouting toward the end because it starts so fast and furious. The timing, tempo and melody are not it. There is not any breathing room for her amazing vocals to really shine. It’s just so f*coming chaotic! Like I just want her chill a bit. A power ballad doesn’t require that pace or shouting. Then the vocals themselves are so polished that the rich rawness she has to her voice is not present. Her incredible tone is but not the little elements that really grab me like in Always Remember Us This Way for example. I’m glad for bloodpop that she is taking credit for the production as well because damn he’s hitting negative numbers with me and it would be VERY easy to blame him for all the things I don’t like.

I hope this can grow on me. A couple songs off Chromatica finally did so there is hope but I think if she performs this with just her and a piano I will literally melt! Especially if she relaxes a bit and doesn’t keep the chaotic pace of the song.

Hold My Hand is a grower. I'm glad she kind of let her recent perception of doing ballad influenced by country / folk music beind and went into the 80s pop rock path this time.

An Oscar nomination and Grammy nominations are on lock imo.

Lady Gaga improved a lot vocally, no doubt of it. It's a strong songwriting as well.

I'm sure it could become a classic song in her discography if her team, movie studio and radios are pushing it. The GP will definitely be here for this song.
