The so-called minister of Foreign Affairs of Transnistria claimed Romania and Moldova united. According to him, Moldova's territory is ''controled and governed by NATO'', moreover there are 3 secret military bases of NATO on Moldova's territory  (very reminiscent to Russia's claims about Ukraine hosting secret weapons and biochemical labs belonging to NATO).

As a Romanian I was just informed my country suddenly moved its borders and added 33.846 km² to its landmass overnight - now of terms of reality, it needs to be said that the only foreign presence on Moldovan territory at the moment are the Russian troops stationed east of the Dniester. NATO has no military bases in Moldova, let alone maintain any base against Moldova's will, while Russia does.

Are these statements by the "minister" intended to rush and justify an integration of Transnistria into the Russian Federation? Using the same logic as the military "provocation" argument at its borders?

I think to grow tensions between the pro-Europeans and pro-Russians in Moldova and to instigate Anti-Romanian and anti-NATO sentiment in Transnistria. That or to prepare Transnistria's population domestically for an invasion. But who knows at this point, there are lots of things we don't know about the ways in which messages like these help Russia directly or indirectly. We don't know fully understand the methods of Russia's informational war.
