I completely agree. I see comparisons between Kim K and Marilyn and I think people do it because they consider Kim K a sex symbol? But is she a sex symbol? I think she’s not personally. And then except her curves I don’t see what else they have in common, and yet people keep thinking Marilyn was like Kim K. What would be a better comparison would be Zsa Zsa Gabor and Kim K but even then it doesn’t fit for me… 

I also don’t think Kim K would appreciate the weight of the dress like u said. It’s part of pop culture but also political history, it’s also Marilyn’s last event she ever attended in her life before passing away. Personally I think nobody can wear it as it’s extremely custom made. Even Marilyn could not wear it again as it was extremely stitched tightly to her body. The goal was to create the illusion that Marilyn was nude with diamonds all over her, so u can imagine how tight it was.. untouchable for me

It’s a theory but so many people around Marilyn held such disgust for the Kennedy brothers after her death that it’s hard to think there wasn’t a lot more.

I don't see how it fits with the gilded age attire code, but most celebs barely even dress on theme, so at least this is that.

Also.... can we as a society come together and decide that damaging historic outfits is not the moment? I'm all for a good callback and homage, but we have the technology to make that happen without potentially staining an iconic light-colored dress with spray tan to show it off. No shade at all, just feels a bit blasphemous.
