I'll never understand being this old and being with someone this young. Like 50 with 30, hm okay. But 60 with a 20 smthg, i'd feel like im hanging out with a toddler. What do u even talk about?

I have many friends who are 40-30 years older than me and we have a lot to talk about. Many of my friends who are my age have always thought it was very strange to have such old friends and always joked about it. I think it’s very nice to have friends from different age groups.

Don’t see any problem with big age caps in romantic relationships either as long as every one is an adult.

Right? The whole "what would they talk about" argument is so ageist. Even if they have zero in common, showing an interest in your partner's hobbies is something to talk about :toofunny:

ITT people who have either never met an older person, or who have never been in a healthy relationship

It's not ageist if you're dating a 20 year old and you're 70 year old, you didn't experience life yet. I guess of course there could be exceptions but even for me in my mid 20s when I speak to someone who's 16, you notice a difference. There comes a point you can't relate to each other because they are figuring out life when you already did that, and the level of maturity can be different too (depends). Ageist, sexist, blah blah -ist. So easy to throw these around these days

Rightly or wrongly, maybe that's exactly what she's looking for? Somebody who doesn't have the same life experiences as her and can introduce her to new things

Why is everyone always so preoccupied by what two consenting adults are doing with their life? The guy is almost 30, I'm sure he's aware of the age difference and I'm sure he gets to decide for himself whether it's fine or not. It literally doesn't matter whether anyone else finds it 'weird' or 'wrong'. So many baseless assumptions are thrown around it's hilarious.

Maybe because she's a woman. The minute it's a man everyone loses their marbles. It's both weird in both cases when the age difference is 70 and u date someone who's 18... But you're right, no one's business and nobody cares as long as it's two adults
