I agree even tho I luv all three artists. Most obvious flop tho…

- Sweetest Pie

- That post malone & The Weeknd song

- Taylor & Ed collabs (like all their collabs flop at least streaming wise 😭)

- Justin & Shawn collab

- Blackpink & Selena collab (it did good on YouTube but literally sour candy is outstreaming this song daily I think on streaming platforms 😭)

I can't think of any other collabs that have been mentioned already. Ed Sheeran + Taylor Swift seems like a duo that will for sure do well so I'm surprised they did it once with End Game and now again with Joker and the Queen and it's like nothing happened except for the million views of course. I think he was also featured on one of Taylor's re-release singles and that was also very chill.

Taylor doesn’t really get any smash hits anymore tbh. Mainly cuz she picks the wrong singles. Like Exile has over 300 mil streams on Spotify despite it not being a single, yet her lead Cardigan only has 100 mil more than Exile despite the fact of having a mv and get some playlisting push. Like clearly there is the demand, if only she picked better singles. All Ed’s and Taylor’s collabs have been snoozefests ngl and you’d think they’d come up with better work based on how talented both individuals are.

Now THIS one surprised me truly. Ariana came right off of Sweetener (2 top 10s), thank u, next (2 No. 1s, a #2 hit), and Boyfriend (a Top 10). And it’s not every day you see Lana such a mainstream collab so I thought it had a lot of IT factors going for it

Wait, when did this come out?

2020. Calvin's just been releasing stand-alone singles since his last album 5 years ago, everything he's released since then has flopped, bar a couple of UK top tens that have been and gone and it's like he's almost completely fallen off now. I think his time as a major hitmaker is done is even The Weeknd can't save him.

Could be a cynical take but sometimes it’s refreshing to see these sorts of collabs underperform. So many of them are just strategic and stale and have no flare anymore.

Same. It sends a strong message to labels that the collabs they encourage and endorse need to be stronger, that they can't get a hit just based on big names singing a song that was written in 15 minutes. But it hurts more if both artists are talented. I don't know why, as I'm not a major fan of either artist but Sweetest Pie flopping made me feel quite sad. I think it's because I know so much promo (as in online and street advertising) was put into this, it must have cost the labels a ton. There were posters in the street, who does that kinda promo for music videos anymore? The label clearly expected this to be a success so thought the costly promo spots would pay for themselves.

A lot of people say they were surprised but not me. Miley hadn't had a proper hit in years and Lana had never been a major hitmaker, so it was all on Ariana to carry it, the song was mediocre and it was for a remake of a movie that wasn't getting properly promoted and that no one cared about or had even asked for.

Yeah, you'd think this duo would be chart gold for multiple reasons, but no. I was surprised at the low views and even lower likes for TJ&TQ, I think the public just didn't connect with this song like expected. Not every Ed song hits the bullseye, even in the UK, but usually his collabs are guaranteed #1's here provided it's a huge name. I doubt their fanbases are at odds with each other, so it must just come down to the song not clicking.

Her international fans definitely seem to have reached the point with her where if they just buy the entire album. The only place she's continued to get #1's (however brief) is the USA. It blows my mind that the lead singles off her last 2 albums went #1 there despite no promo and not following trends and All Too Well's re-release also going to the top is even more shocking. I'm from the UK where she's only ever had one #1. In America, she has 8. Considering that it took her 6 years of her career before she achieved her first there, that's really something.

Miley and Dua (Prisoner) - Dua was smashing 2020 and Midnight Sky had good reception. This song was unfortunately forgotten. :(

Normani and Cardi (West Side) - Cardi B feature that barely went top 15 and did nothing for Normani’s career. :flop:

Lizzo and Cardi (Rumors) - Right after Lizzo’s huge debut era and a Cardi feature, the song made no noise despite going #4. :bear:

Jesy Nelson and Nicki (Boyz) - Debut single that is struggling to get 30M Spotify streams. :toofunny:

Coldplay and BTS (My Universe) - Blatant attempt to get a hit. :rip: Went #1 but is as forgotten as their entire era.

Maroon 5 and Megan Thee Stallion (Beautiful Mistakes) - Another pathetic attempt by the Art Police to get a hit. Luckily it was a forgotten flop. :gaycat:

Sam Smith and Demi Lovato (I’m Ready) - Sam has been struggling since their second era and this Demi feature did nothing to help. :smh:
