I'm going to get dragged on here...and I love Bowie's music...but I think it's interesting the GP and music fans haven't addressed that multiple folks (including journalists) have mentioned he slept with underage girls and this was up even after her married Iman. A lot of iconic musicians were f*cking creeps who slept with underage girls (I get it was a different time, but still), but the girl that Bowie admitted to sleeping with was FOURTEEN...which was young even by creepy, sleeping with underage girls standards back then. And there's other stuff too, I believe a journalist from The Guardian or something discussed Bowie hitting on his 16 year old friend back in the 90s. If you look it up, there were definitely a few articles but weirdly enough the general media mostly ignored it outside of the 14 year old.

I honestly think if he wasn't so beloved and he had been a POC (and not a white guy) people would have a very different take on him. People would probably still find his music iconic, but would separate the art from the artist.

Well it’s prob because every rock star was doing that back then. Mick Jagger’s past, anyone? I think people collectively overlooked it tbh. Not saying that’s not bad but that’s prob why it doesn’t make big waves

Uh David Bowie literally did nothing lmao people are weird af acting like her schtick would even resonate with him when, if you look at that era of him, he was not remotely interested in dance pop or frivolous stuff. It was all quite artsy and serious. He was into the New York experimental jazz scene mostly as evidenced by Blackstar and the rougher cuts of those songs dropped in the years prior. So like. It’s not unbelievable that he just didn’t have much of an opinion and wasn’t going around doing meet n greets unless he REALLY wanted to meet an artist (like Lorde).

This always was weird to me. These celebs act like just because theyre “iconic” or whatever they think they’re better than the musicians that come after them. Just like how prince acted toward Gaga (i.e. when prince accused Gaga of buying her woman of the year award in 2015)

(In mild fairness you do basically nominate yourself for those types of awards and sway influence through purchases, donations, and such)

Yeah I think she’s honestly just very upfront about how deeply ambitious she is. Everyone in show business is some kind of snake. You have to be to make it. Period. Like, maybe you might be a more benevolent snake but still, you gotta do what you gotta do to amass THAT kind of status and wealth. Period.

I think Madonna is otherwise just a person, really. She’s put up with a f ton, she’s tough as nails, transparently ambitious and with high standards, and yeah that’ll come off as unnecessarily rude sometimes. I also think that she learned shading and reading from the OG club queens so like…some people take it to heart too much when really she’s just playing around. Would I do it? Do I particularly like it? Nah. But I get it. I think people lack a lot of context and big thinking when it comes to Ms Madge.

I'm a huge Bowie fan and so I remember what the rumours were.

She had requested to meet him, he declined and said he hadn't listened to her music or didn't like it. Good for him. Better than being fake. Remember, this was The Fame era, most people thought she was a vapid new York socialite nobody.
