The guise is "so parents can take direction in how their kids are raised" but we all know how that's going to turn out. It's basically made the world even more cruel for queer youth. I knew I was gay at 11 but had to jump through several traumatizing situations before I finally found myself where I am. I had hoped things were getting better so gay kids wouldn't have an identity crisis be a normal part of their growing up but the Republicans have killed that hope. If she had been supportive of the trans community and actually spoken out about her struggle in a real way, she'd have a lot more ears. And sponsorships, appearances, etc. She's effectively shackled herself to one network that doesn't even like her for her and exploits her to drive a dated narrative. I remember when she came out on the cover of Vanity Fair and I thought she might be a good representative for the trans community. How I was wrong.
