Fanta 5,019
The ball is in her court. I disagree that the pandemic put a stop to everything because we saw all the pop girls (with smaller budgets and fanbases) give their all and snatch one #1 after the other. She doesn't take her avant-garde side seriously enough anymore to promote it on a respectable level the way she did ASIB and her Jazz projects. And since we're discussing Chromatica's potential, let's not forget all the missed opportunities: She dismissed the entire album, never speaking about it again. The gap between 911 and Rain on Me was months long, and radio silent. No Chromatica TV website, barely any videos, the HL Babylon fiasco (we don't talk about the one we got). No Free Woman remix along with Dom Perignon, not even new photos in the booklets or Vinyls. The talent is there, and so is the creativity, the status and the power too, it's all there. Now, the drive? Y'all better keep praying because that's really the only thing that's missing. We're not in 2011 anymore, the industry has changed and there's nothing groundbreaking about Oreos and a video in a desert.

But to be fair we were living in a very confused era, there was also the George Floyd incident. She certainly took a longer break than most pop stars did, but I think House of Gucci also took most of her time and she was alright with it.
Anderson123 38,229
Damn I get triggered every time I think about Chromatica's potential. That was really going to be her best era since Born This Way. I still listen to it every day, p!sses me off it could've had a much bigger impact.

We don’t know that, Adele had all the promo opportunities in the world and the impact 30 had was very fleeting, and it’s not like it was a bad album or something. Not the bore worms! I'm not talking about chart success or winning more Grammys and stuff like that, the album did pretty well given the circumstances. It's the live performances she had planned, Coachella, Sour Candy music video after that, maybe even Babylon and Free Woman. More interviews, festivals, longer tour that summer, etc.

I personally think that is a testament to how they were not fully equipped for the era. The music videos should have been shot before release (not edited or completed necessarily, but footage). The same goes for the website. There was no excuse.

She was dragged for singing/dancing FW on album release night - I think there was some other stuff happening but I forgot what it was.

It was BTS stans that were troll-dragging her for the most part that night, everyone else that wasn't was actually focussing on the real issue. ARTPOP 3,095
I can´t with yáll saying she will only win it with an album of ballads. You seem to forget her most critically acclaimed songs are pop dance songs( Just dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, Born this Way, ROM) + some ballads. It does not mean she only can do ballads, Just because ASIB was a hit. Promo will not add quality to your music, it will only work for artists who need exposure. She can definitely get album of the year if she puts her head and heart on the dance floor with minimal promo. COME ON GAYS!!
GerMonsterNotta 1,432
I kinda agree and disagree… of course as a stan another amazing critically acclaimed album with AOTY would be amazing But I also feel like what does it matter at this point? It’s just one category and one award. She’s a 13 time Grammy award winner, surpassing so many of her contemporary peers and she looks to have so many years ahead of her as long as she stays motivated and happy with what she is doing. She continues to build acclaim for herself as an artist and philanthropist as her career continues to progress. At this point as long as she continues to generate new music we enjoy, shows loves for the fans, gives us tours and maintains her legend status by constantly evolving - put all these things first and if awards come or not then whatever (although I’m sure they will)! Kimmo 80,623
This is not the case, Born this Way was massive, no album release in my memory (probably before my time though) has been as promoted and impactful as BTW. The rollout went out loud: …. *Yet, NO ALBUM OF THE YEAR AWARD Hottie Detector
