you are not entitled to walk on a stage and do anything. I don't care if you're Kanye, I don't care if you're will smith - that is a no go area for audience members.   I find it surprising you would normalize that kind of behaviour.

And yes, get slapped across your face and then shouted down and threatened from the audience IS humiliating, and not something a comedian should have to tolerate.

I'm not normalizing it :messga:

I said it wasn't justified, it's just not this big world ending thing.

Thinking one celebrity slapping another is not global news worthy =/= normalizing and advocating for violence.

I truly, honestly, do not understand the outrage over a slap :deadbanana: people get slapped every day. Sometimes they deserve it, sometimes they don't. Doesn't make hitting people right but it's also not a big deal unless it evolves into some larger event or it's part of a pattern of violence. Clearly my threshold for what counts as "violent crime" is much higher than the rest of y'alls. Which is fine.

Now let me bounce before this gets twisted into some "GGD MOD SUPPORTS ABUSERS" crap.

We don't know if Chris was joking about her health condition, or if he just made a joke about what he thought was Jada's chosen hair style, but regardless of the intention of his joke, hitting someone is not an appropriate response.

Will has recognized that, and apologized. Which is great.

But the language you have chosen to use in threads about this issue, "a husband jacked someone because of something he said about his wife," is troubling in that it promotes toxic masculinity. Your comment also sends signals to victims of assault and physical abuse that violence against them can be justified if what their abuser said upset them.

You can call it a slap, or getting "jacked," but do not put your hands on other people. It's that simple.

Too late :rip:

Y'all read way too deep into sh*t and that's exactly why I avoid conversation topics for months after certain names show up on my notifications.

Draw whatever conclusions you want, I'll be over here living in the real world with real concerns.

Whether or not the main symptom is hair loss, Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder. I’m sure that is very scary to the people who actually have it. You don’t get to justify what health conditions are severe enough for the person who has to deal with it every day. “Invisible” health conditions are still health conditions.

what do you mean invisible?  Literally the only symptom of it is hair loss.  (yes there's a tiny percentage of people with more symptoms, but that's really rare.)

I may have used the wrong term by using invisible. What I meant was I don’t think it’s okay for someone to say “Oh they just have Alopecia, no big deal” just like any other health condition that may not be a “big deal” when you have it, it’s different. I have floaters in my eyes which isn’t a big deal, but it still scares me if I think about it, and wish I didn’t.

I'm just saying people are using the term "health condition" to make it sound more out of bounds than it actually is.

Losing hair is traumatic, I went through it at a very young age.  But at the same time - we're all dealt cards in life and losing hair is really only about appearance.  Tough, but it's not something that puts your health in peril or requires a lot of maintenance.  I agree the joke should have been avoided, but it's not like she had cancer, and it doesn't justify violence and a threatening temper tantrum.  That's all.

This is the craziest take I've seen from you yet, Mr. Sick :deadbanana:

One celebrity slapping another live on TV at the biggest awards show of the year is huge entertainment news :messga:

"Real world" news is all horrible all the time, let us have this :ladyhaha:

The mess in this thread is pathetic to say the least. There may be different opinions and its obvious that in a situation like this, sides are taken. But lets stop demonizing people (as usual in this sites when they dont like an opinion/side) who support Will why? Simple because you were not in his position to feel what he felt. Violence is not the option, but there are people who react in different ways. I try to put myself in Jada's shoes and i cant imagine what its like to feel humiliated in front so many people. I do not justify Will's action but i try to have empathy instead of sending the man directly to jail like some of you who are very perfect and quickly to judge and jump on someone else. It is obvious that Will needs psychogical help because anyone can see that he has a certain degree of depression.

Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙

I thought you said "one of the craziest"

and i was like, "no this is THE craziest"

and then I read it again, and I was like, oh yeah that's what they said.  :ladyhaha:

Your rudeness is unnecessary.

Everyone here lives in the real world. We all are dealing with real world issues.

No one here is yelling and ripping out their hair. We are just discussing an assault that happened on live television in front of a massive global audience. It's news worthy.

It's an event that can spark worthwhile conversations about violence, what kind of jokes are appropriate, privilege, toxic masuiniclty, etc.

The nerve you have to say this:

When you don't know what I've been through personally AND I've said MULTIPLE TIMES in this thread it wasn't justified.

Don't quote me again. Like, ever.

A temper tantrum….? That’s his wife? Also, in the same token, fine, it’s not like she has cancer, and it’s not like Will left Chris a bruise, or any type of mark.
