Jada wasn't the one who went on stage to slap someone and then acted scary back at their seat - so I dont know why Will's history of making fun of people's appearance wouldn't be relevent.  REMEMBER: It was WILL who went on stage to assault someone over a joke about a condition less serious than obesity. Men are teased about their hair loss all the time.  Male pattern baldness is a "health condition" in the same way alopecia is.  And joke are made - and always have been - without knowing what's going on inside someone's head.  

Also, most people wouldn't have heard or remembered the joke without this insane outburst.  So, uhhh... no.

That‘s so mindblowing to me. Most of us are part of minorities, and in every hate crime I saw in real life the abuser always was provoked by something he didn’t think was „appropriate“. They verbally or even non-verbally felt provoked, reacted physically and put the blame on the victim. 

So all this „But I understand Will, because it was an inappropriate joke so he just reacted, Chris deserved.“ talk makes me wonder.. Why exactly do these people get to decide when physical  violence is an answer and when it‘s an attack? And how do they decide?

Ok so just because some jokes have been made in the past suddently the jokes somehow should be tolerated in the present? No, they shouldn't be ok in any kind of sitsuation.

And no, you don't get to choose what medical conditions should be free of ridiculation because you personally think that one is more severe than another. In fact, no medical condition should be made fun of, ever.

But anyway, you're entitled to your opinion just as I am to mine. No point in arguing with someone who clearly has made up their mind.

I don’t agree with violence, but imma be a hypocrite and side with Will only because my mom has the same condition as Jada and I know how much she hurts on the inside because of the way people tease her, even tho she pretends to be cool with it in public, but deep down she’s devasted and literally cries herself to sleep on some tough nights. So yeah, **** Chris Rock.

It's not even hypocrisy as you don't have to agree with everything that somebody does. It's honestly sad that in this day and age people think that everything is so black and white and that we always have choose the extreme option while forming opinions on things with no middle ground.

Not wildly on either side. That joke could have been screened out at the scripting stage with a more sensitive eye, although I think it wasn't wildly offensive.

The reaction was way way WAY over the top and completely unjustified. Found the acceptance speech uncomfortable ... "Vessel of Love" ... I've seen Smith get shirty with people on the red carpet before. He's a bit of a toxicly masculine hot head.

Let's not normalise, defend and justify smacking our hosts and performers about please. The world is dire enough as it is.

that joke had to be approved by the people running the oscars - no one deserve to be assaulted for a joke - during a night where every single celeb thats relevant is being roasted.............  

will hit a reporter on the red carpet a long time ago, i feel like he should just stay home if he cant keep his hands to himself. 

he couldve gone up there and yelled or told a better joke, but nah he did the worst he could do. his oscar should also be revoked as that **** is not okay at all. and defending jada, while she has been unfaithful to u all these years??? do you have any self respect will???? he has no remorse either he only apologized to the academy and the audience.

We don't even know if Rock knew it wasn't just a hairstyle. Imagine if he made a joke about a hairstyle and was slapped for it...

2 years ago Gervais joked about the golden globes crowd being good buddies with Epstein ( a dude capturing minors girls to make them sex slaves ) and they all laughed at it but now a hair cut/ hair loss joke gonna be a risk of physical agression to take for comedians.
